Very fun place. Don't go for the food, it wasn't the best. I really liked the imajare, but everything else was just mediocre. We saw belly dancers and smoked the hookah which definitely added to the experience. The service was nice and I really liked the spiced wine. Fun place for a group.

Yum yum yum! Delicious brunch and such a cute restaurant. We didn't have to wait at all because we went pretty early, but we saw the line get long as we ate. Their eggs benedict type dishes are amazing and I love the light hollandaise sauce. They don't drench the eggs and they are poached to perfection. Their big cup of chai is also very good.

I just found my new favorite sushi restaurant. The fish was so fresh and the service was great. Very unpretentious, but classy at the same time. I went on a Sunday night and it was fairly busy. I am hoping they get more business, but not so much that there is a long wait. The prices are a little high, but I think the quality is worth it. They have a great sake list and the sushi chefs are very skilled. I highly recommend it for anyone that likes fresh, classic sushi without any frills. My favorite was the guerrero roll and the sashimi sampler.

Wow! The souffles are quite amazing here. It is a very romantic place that is on the small side. One souffle was more than enough to share for the entree. The dessert souffles are huge and could feed about 6 people. We barely made a dent in our chocolate souffle. The service is very french and a little on the terse side. Great date place.

I really wanted to like this place, but the entrees were too big of a dissapointment. The space is really nice and our waiter was great, but the food was not. The appetizers started off okay, but the portions were really too small. My duck entree did not have a very good taste and it was overcooked. They do have a nice wine list that is very reasonable. Save your money and head to the other cool restaurants in Hayes Valley.

Yum! No need to cross the bay the Zachary's anymore. Their deep dish is awesome. Their sauce is a little less chunky than Zach's, but still very good and spicey. Thumbs way up on this restaurant. A great addition to the hood and was packed on a Saturday night. We waited quite a while for a table, but they have a really nice bar. The whole experience just go better and better through out the meal. The appetizers are good, not great. I love their french fries. The lamb riblets were a little too fatty for me and I didn't really enjoy the halibut carpaccio. The entrees on the other hand were amazing. The chicken is incredibly moist, the sole was very flavorful and the pork chop looked great. Their caesar salad is also very good. Their menu is a bit limited, though. They could stand to add a few entrees. The best part of the dinner was the desserts. AMAZING! Bourbon creme brulee, chocolate tart and a creme fraiche ice cream. I was so impressed with the service and the attentiveness of the waiters. Great space and ambiance. I will definitely be back.

I have to neg the place for the horrible service. We attempted to do the BYOB and were told that we didn't indicate it on our reservation. After much complaining and uncomfortableness they finally acquiesced. However, the rest of the evening was spoiled with their rude comments and stares. The BYOB deal is truly a great deal and the food was delicious. But I will never return because of that horrible service.

If they have the open faced omelette with lemon ricotta, crabmeat and asparagus order it right away. Yes, the waits are long, the selection is small, and it is a little pricey, but my meal was well worth it. In fact, it was so big it served as two breakfasts. The wait service isn't the best and they do try to rush you a bit. I recommend going on a weekday and avoid the long lines.

Amazing service that far exceeds any restaurant in the city. It is quite pricey, but their food is really spectacular and well worth it. We thought we would go big with 5 courses, but ended up barely being able to finish 4. If I went again I would do 3 courses. They have an unbelievable wine list that goes on for 65 pages. Best dinner I have ever had hands down. We started out with the seafood sampler appetizer. The oysters and mussels were so fresh and delicious. I had a lovely beet salad for the appetizer. I never thought I would say that I liked a Mexican restaurant in the Marina, but I am saying it. Mamacita's is a very fun place for a group with lots of interesting menu items. The food is served family style which gives everyone a chance to sample multiple items. The pomegranate margaritas are awesome, but pretty pricey. Delicious tapas that in my opinion are not that tiny. We had more than enough food and didn't end up spending a lot of money even though we had quite a bit to drink. The tuna tacos were amazing, as were the spare ribs and the filet mignon. I loved the fondue and the spinach salad. Their red sangria is very smooth and I recommend eating the fruit at the end. Great place for a carnivore. Their prime rib is truly delicious and they cook it perfectly. I loved their mashed potatoes and their house salad. Hands down best sushi I have ever had anywhere. It was so fresh, melt in your mouth absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend the sashimi sampler platter that has a delicious sampling of very fresh sashimi. If they have the bene toro please get it - it is sooo good! Our waiter was very knowledgeable about sake and gave us a great recommendation. Their sake selection is very impressive. My one gripe was with the service. After our waiter sold us a very expensive bottle of sake he seemed to forget us. We had to wait about 15 minutes to place another order of sushi and to get our bill. Also, fill up on the sushi and skip the dessert - it is not very exciting. It was an expensed dinner so I didn't pay too much attention to the prices, but it was definitely extremely expensive. However, I think it is worth it!

How can you not love a restaurant that is called Le Charm? Very cute, quaint, neighborhood joint that makes you feel like you stumbled upon a hidden gem. It was raining on the day that I went, but I am sure their outdoor bistro would have been lovely for dinner. We both had the prix fixe for $28 and I thought it was an amazing deal. You get about 5-6 choices per course, with many tempting ones. The french onion soup and escargot are delicious. For the entree I had the steak, which was very decadent and cooked perfectly. The desserts were different, but good. The service was a bit slow and my one complaint is that they forgot to pack my leftovers. Overall, it is a good value with delicious french food and a little bit of that french service!

Roe is fun little hot spot in SOMA. They have a dining room that is beautifully decorated and an upstairs lounge that is hopping with loud music. The food is inventive and tasty. We had the DAT menu and were very happy overall with the selections. The main entrees, the chicken and garlic noodles were delicious. There are four courses the first two courses together make a good size appetizer. I was not impressed with the ginger salad. I was also not impressed with the service. Our waiter was horrible. We asked for his help in picking a wine and he clearly had no idea what he was talking about. Also, the wait time between the courses was far too long. The desserts were delicious. The trio of sorbets is not to be missed. I would return, but would expect a very long dinner.

I had a great DAT dinner at Ana Mandara last night. Probably one of the best DAT experiences I have had with the most options. We were a group of 4 and ended up sharing everything on the menu and every dish was delicious. Here is the menu:
First Course
Crispy Rolls with crabmeat, shrimp & shiitake mushrooms
or
Crispy Lobster Ravioli
or
Banana Blossom salad with chicken & grapefruit
Second Course
Seared Mekong Basa
or
Sauteed Beef
or
Crispy Skin Five-Spiced Poussin (Chicken)
Third Course
Meyer Lemon Mousse
or
Flourless Coconut Rum Cake
My favorites were the lobster ravioli and the basa. I was probably the least impressed with the beef and would not order it again. The desserts were so light and delicious. I loved the lemon mousse. Services was okay, nothing great. But the ambiance was fabulous. They also offered a wine flight for $16. None of us were drinking and it came to $41 a person with tax and tip. I highly recommend it.

Definitely the oddest chinese restaurant I have been to. I would consider it more French than Chinese, but either way it was delicious. We went for the prix-fixe DAT menu. The DAT menu was 4 courses, no dessert for $31.95. The starter was hoisin chicken triangles. They were very delicious, but tiny. Then a crab bisque soup with puff pastry crust. That was very delicious. The third course was a steamed sea bass in a yummy sauce that I cannot remember. But it was very good. The last course was the best, sheking beef and asparagus. The portions were perfect and we did not feel over-stuffed, but we did not have room for dessert. The service is a little odd and the ambiance is a little cheesey. I did really enjoy all the pictures of the famous people who have dined there.

The worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. I am not sure if it was an off day for this restaurant, but even though the food was very tasty I have to give it a negative for the horrid service. We arrived around noon and were told "Good Luck" by one of the patrons as they went out for a smoke. We should have taken that as a sign and left, but it was one of the few restaurants open. Because the place is a little cramped we sat at a dirty table so we wouldn't be in the way. Fifteen minutes pass, dirty plates still on the table, no menus, no acknowledgment. Then our waitress comes by ready to take our order. We let her know that we never got our menus. We ended up bussing our own table, setting our own table and getting our own water. When we finally got our food we were a bit delirious. The food was actually quite tasty, but the service was unforgivable. I will not be returning.

La Provence's family atmosphere is so inviting and makes you feel like you are in someone's home rather than a restaurant. The waitstaff is so inviting and pleasant. The food is very good, but not excellent. I think they are still perfecting their menu. The salad de chevre was delicious, but the pate could have used a little bit of help. I ordered the rabbit which was good, even though it was slightly overcooked. My friend ordered the lamb which was delicious and perfectly medium rare. What a lovely restaurant all around. The experience started off great when Rob came and greeted us because we were from SFsurvey. The service was excellent, informative but not intrusive. The prix-fixe neighborhood special was a great deal. The house salad had a delicious lemon dressing that was the perfect size. I ordered the steak which came with delicious mashed potatoes and the perfect amount of goat cheese. My dining partner ordered the pasta with chicken, which was surprisingly good. Dessert was delicious and inventive. The dining room has great ambience and decor. The icing on the cake, though, was that our waiter was gorgeous and so sweet. Overall a great dining experience that makes me sad to not live in the neighborhood anymore.

The $4 all you can drink mimosa is just an awesome deal. They are not stingy about refilling and they refill you right to the top. Food is pretty good. Eggs benedict very yummy and rich. Their home fries are delicious - crispy fried and taste almost like french fries. Additional plus - if you mention Gospel Party you get two-for-one brunch! Ambiance is very cool as well. My one complaint is the service. Our waitress was soo snooty, but with mimosas in hand we didn't care! Highly recommend for a good group brunch.

I think this restaurant deserves more of an in-between a positive and a neutral. My experience as a whole was underwhelming. We started off with the beet salad and french onion soup. Both were okay, but nothing fabulous. The beet were delicious, but the choice of frissee and the amount used slightly ruined the salad. The dressing was also a little too oily for me. For the entree we had the shortribs and the duck. The duck was delicious, great sauce that had an interesting flavor. The short ribs were ok, but I have had better. The portion size for both was great. The desserts were also just ok - a nectarine and berry crisp a la mode and the bittersweet banana chocolate bread pudding. The bread pudding wasn't custardy enough. I don't think I would return unless I lived in the neighborhood. I think you can get better french food for an even better price at other restaurants like Baker Street Bistro.

While the interior is very impressive, the restaurant lacks anything significant to make it stand out. The location is convenient for public transportation, but rather tucked away in the Embarcadero Center. The food is alright, doesn't warrant the prices. Firefly is amazing! I had the most wonderful dining experience there last night. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and helpful. Our waitress recommended a great wine. They have a great prix fix on Sun.-Thurs. for $30 - any choice of appetizer, entree and dessert. Their menu is so eclectic and innovative, we had a hard time deciding on our meal. We tried the scallop potstickers and the roccola salad with pistachio crusted goat cheese and port poached cherries. The salad was amazing. They make a great roasted cauliflower mash that you will swear taste like mashed potatoes. The desserts were also delicious, strawberry infused panna cotta and banana chocolate creme pie. The presentation of the dishes are lovely and the portion size is perfect. I also feel like they try to be health-concsious, using minimal butter and fresh vegetables. The ambiance is perfect, a blend of neighborhood and hip. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great brunch place when you want more of an upscale mood and a waterfront view. They only had 6 choices for brunch, but they were all very decadent and looked delicious. I got a twist on standard eggs benedict, crab louis and garlic spinach instead of canadian bacon. Delicious! But the best part was it came with a side of fruit that wasn't just an orange. A great size serving of rasberries, strawberries, blackberries, bananas, and tangerines. Most places would charge you $7 for a side of fruit. They also have a monte cristo with nutella, peanut butter and berry jelly. And if you are feeling extra decadent -- delicious appetizers. They serve real Mitchell's ice cream. Service was great.

I tried this restaurant with a friend last week. They describe it as Mesopatamia food. It has influences from Greece, Middle East, and India. I really enjoyed my meal. It is a nicer place with entrees ranging from $11-$17 if I recall correctly. Their entrees are very large and delicious. I ordered the dolmas which were not your classic dolmas. There were some wrapped in grape leaves, others in eggplant, onion, zucchini. They like to mix the savory with the sweet so it had a tamarind sauce. The service was excellent. The waiter took his time explaining the menu. They have wine by the glass for $4 and it is pretty good. If you are looking for something different this is an excellent place to go.

The Zuni ceaser salad is great, but not really worth all the hype. Our entrees were delicious and perfectly sized. They also have a verynice wine list with some great half bottle options. I had a wonderful experience at jardiniere. My friend and I went to celebrate our promotions with a special evening. We started out with some delicious cocktails. We were then taken upstairs to a great seat by the piano with a view over the balcony. On the way up a waitress knocked over my friend's drink which was practically empty. They brought two more drinks for us on the house. We then ordered 3 appetizers and one entree to share. The scallops were divine and the duck salad was delicious. For what it is, completely unauthentic Tex-mex chain food - it is alright. I do love their homemade tortillas and chips and salsa. I could really make a meal out of that and their guacamole if I didn't feel like such a cheapie. But Chevy's can be fun, in a city like SF there is no reason to go to a place like Chevys with so many other authentic Mexican restaurants. However, if you have to go - order an expensive margarita and eat all their chips! You can have fun there, I promise.

I will say that the service was very attentive and friendly. The prices are also reasonable – the whole meal was $80 w/ tip. However, the food left much to desire. We ordered oysters for the appetizer that were horrible. Both of our entrees had entirely too many flavors. We did not even order dessert, which means a lot in my book. I will also add that we had a very tasty Sunday brunch a couple of months back. If you go to Tangerine I suggest you check out the brunch and skip the dinner.

I thought it was a very good deal. You get your choice between 2 appetizers - a papaya salad and spring rolls. The papaya salad was far better and had a very god blend of flavors.
For the entree you have several choices of noodle dishes. I got a chicken one and my friend got the beef one. I liked my chicken one better, but the beef was still good.
For dessert there is a fried banana with chocolate ice cream that is actually just an eggrol with a banana in it. I ended up taking the banana out of the eggroll wrapper and eating it with the choc. ice cream. The other option was a ginger sorbet, it was decent
I say well worth the $15.50 - not your standard food and very nice setting. The service was also excellent.
