Positive Darbar, mmm goat.. Where else can you goat? Anyways, their buffet ($8), had a decent enough selection to make me happy and full. There were not any dishes they warrented 'standing out' amoungst other indian dining places, however price was very low. Although they have no affiliation with Darbar in Palo Alto, thus they do not make the "Chili Chicken". However I overlooked this delicious dish and can wholeheartedly recommend this place for a nice lunch/dinner gathering when on a budget. Parking can be troublesome. Review #21366 Darbar

Positive Not bad for a conveyor belt pizza! My favorites: The "Kickin' Chicken" the "Ragin' Rooster" and the pizza with only white cheeses, walnut and fresh sage are top notch. On a side note, their salad especially the Thai Chicken is great, as heard from a non-salad-eater. Their Club Carves Sandwiches are very good, especially if you get it toasted and with some extra jalapenos! Review #21365 Extreme Pizza

Positive Just thinking about this place is making me do the happy dance. Their jalapeno mayo spread kicks the sandwich into orbit. 'The Sleeper', a Turkey, swiss and bacon piled a mile high, on a dutch crunch roll that will put you out for the count. That's it.. it's 2am and I'm in need of their sleeper for sure! Lunch can be busy, but its worth the people/wait. Review #21364 Darby Dan's Sandwich Co

Neutral I was in the area a half hour before I had to spend the evening shooting darts at a local pub (life is tough). So I walked down the street and Darla's sign caught my eye.. 'possibly the best hamburger around'.. I had to go, only problem, my time constraint could I get it and eat it and enjoy it and make it back to the pub. I ordered my standard 'your in a new burger joint' give em the test order... a western burger! They had one slice of thin bacon (booo) and while the cheese was usual I scarfed it down with their fries, which reminded me of the olden McDonald day fries, you know the ones sprayed with that extra potato starches?! Anyways the bill came with a bite sized brownie, I only had a glass of water but paid $9+ . Nothing to write home about very standard fare. Plus side I made it to the dart match with timer to spare. Positive Yum yum yum... My first order was a double meat double cheese 15" with extra jalapenos. I love this place. My arteries don't love it, but I do. And a choice of fries: steak or twisters :) And the bonus beside being able to create a chicken Philly... the FREE 10" sandwich stamp card, get 15 stamps and get your FREE sandwich. My first purchase got me 4 stamps. Time for another visit... sorry heart. Review #21362 Cheese Steak Shop

Neutral When I first moved into this neighborhood, I was immediately drawn to their "Chicago Style" sign. I tried what I thought should of been a hearty reuben for $$ was more of a disappointment. Neutral I enjoyed the atmosphere of people watching more then I enjoyed the food. The Meats were good, but the chicken and shrimp were way overcooked. They do use a lot of salt here. Their side dish area, has plenty to choose from, however I was there for the 'meat'. Aside from the cafeteria style sides area, the gaucho atmosphere in this churrascaria is something everyone needs to experience, at least once... sort of like Benihana. The meats .. they just keep.. coming! Review #21360 Espetus Churrascaria

Positive When my roommate described some sandwiches to me via the cellphone, I was turned off, however he brought me a shredded chicken and a shredded pork Vietnamese sandwich from Lee's. I was awed at the flavor explosion in my mouth. I have since tried at least 4 varieties and am going back to try some more tomorrow. I believe the cost is about 2/$5 (Vietnamese sandwiches). I recommend this place for 1 main reason, the TASTE EXPLOSION of flavors no matter WHAT sandwich you get. A fresh piece of cilantro, some marinated carrot strips, onion and just the right amount of jalapeno and (special sauce?) soy sauce, make this a winner! Oh and did I mention they bake their own baguettes daily? Review #21359 Lee's Sandwiches

Positive We took the last 2 seats at the corner of the bar. We were presented with a deep fried crab roll, which was good but hot things that are rolled in sushi houses are now not my thing. We ordered a bento box with our choice of 2 items being teriyaki salmon and chicken katso. The salmon was a bit overcooked and the chicken was ok. The tempura was fine and the salad typical. We then had a bang bang roll (dragon roll anywhere else) It was very good and fresh, but the crunch of the tempura shrimp was missing slightly. The Spicey Tuna roll was to die for! A perfect combo of heat and tuna, made me prespire slightly which was awesome! I will go back just for this! The tekka roll was yummy. I did make the mistake of asking what was that, pointing to what I now know as munkfish liver. The chef turned me and four people next us on to this "delicacy" The people next to me said "thanks alot!" I tried a piece and it tasted like pate. I finished the meal off with some mango ice cream. Neutral I love sushi, so I had to try the new sushi across the street from my house! Very elegant inside, great service. Probably one of the freshest cuts of sushi trhat has crossed my lips, however this comes at a premium price! Our favorite was the maguro maki, which had lemon and sesame oil, sea salt, tuna and avocado and daikon sprouts. No need for soy sauce or wasabi, very delicious! A reasonable price at $9, but the tuna with green onions roll was $14, and if we didn't order the edamae beans, we'd have been eating the tablecloth, if they had one. I really wanted to imbibe some saki with my meal, Sebo's list is composed by Beau Timken, who owns the store True Sake across the street, the bottle that caught my eye was $96. Need I say more? Ok then, After 3 rolls and beans, we left and ate at another sushi restaurant, with probably compared to sebo's was inferior, but we got full there under $40, where as for 2 at sebo's be prepared to spend your rent money! Neutral My first pork burrito (as everything else was swimming in sauce) - I am a fan of the "not wet" burrito! It was good, table hot sauce wasn't too hot. There was a line for lunch, but it moved quickly and by the time we paid there was a table or two open. If this place added grilled chicken to their menu of meats I would be back, but until then..I am not a big enough fan of the carnitas (pork). Review #13799 Chavo's Mexican Restaurant

Neutral The "Jumbo" breakfast, choice of sausage, bacon, or ham comes with 3 eggs and country potatoes with a side of toast and OJ. I added a side of english muffin to my order, because theres nothing like a good breakfast sandwich! Yup, I'm one of 'them'. Unfortunetly for me, the waitress dropped off our toast and english muffin, long in advance of the breakfast.. grrr. Coffee was folgers consistancy, not a SF cup O' Joe. Another downer came when we went to pay. I had $1 on me. I offered the waitress my debit card. No sorry no credit cards, cash only. Don't remember seeing that on the front window.. She conveniently pointed to an ATM in the corner.. surcharge -$2.50 -$2.00 Bof A charge, so $4.50 it cost me just for the priveledge of paying. hmm. I would eat there again, just remember to bring cash and tell the waitress to bring your toast with the order! So all in all, good potatoes, all breakfast meat was pre-cooked, awaiting a rewarm, Review #13764 Olympic Flame Cafe

Neutral I ordered from here to be delivered. This is probably my 12th time ordering. I usually do not order the pizza, its not that great, in my opinion, however, how many places delivery cheeseburgers and fries to house? OK probably a lot, but I'm not used to that! I get my cheeseburger and fries and mostly its satisfying, not especially great. Large hand patted patties. This time around, they broke my cardinal sin of to-go food. They completely got my order screwy. I said no mustard and mozzarella cheese, what I got was a burger slathered in mustard and w/ American cheese. I know a pizza house doesn't run out of Mozzarella! No excuses! I wish I could take my tip back! but the delivery guy didn't do anything.. oh yeah no pen to sign CC slip.. bad driver.. gimme back my 20% tip - hehe The bad thing is, I'll probably order here again, when the lazy mans burger day arrives again. Positive Kams is very "Chinese" with hanging lanterns and Chinese motifs. A very delicious not-to-miss item here is their Foil wrapped Chicken. Yum!! Their beef in Oyster Sauce is tender and delicious as well as their signature Kams Chicken, which comes weighing in at .. a lot! The portions are generous and the prices are right. Positive I had my sushi delivered from Waiters On Wheels. I really enjoyed the Dinosaur Roll, Super Dynamite Roll and the Dragon Roll. Rock and Roll was smooth, but the Unago Roll would've been better had they had ripe mango instead of unripe mango. I also tried (their signature roll??) Wasabi and Ginger Martini Roll which seemed to get lost inside itself, probably from too many different fishes flavors competing against each other, I know it wasn't the tempura batter on the outside! All in all I really enjoyed the sushi here and vow to return in person to check out the crew at their Van Ness location. Review #13675 Wasabi & Ginger

Positive Steak Fajita Nachos, need I say anything else? Ok then, they're delicious! A pitcher of margaritas and some steak fajita nachos is all you need! Bonus here are the freshly made tortillas on their own machine that sits right in the dining room.. mmm warm tortillas! And the fresh 'blender' salsa, you can see the bits of roasted vegetables in the dip and the taste is just right for a small spicey tart smack with their thin chips. You can get anything in the mexican cusine on the menu: beans, rice, chicken, beef or fish, mixed and matched in some sort of way. Like I said the Fajita Steak Nachos, beans rices, cheese, beef, slasa, guacamole.. did I miss anything? If you want to splurge you can do shots of their tequila especial which could cost you $10+ shot. But granted, its so smooooooth. Review #13572 Chevy's Fresh Mex

Positive Excellent Dim Sum here: the Siu Mai (pork & shrimp) dumplings, were yummy, and I also order the turnip cakes and the BBQ Pork Buns. There are also a plethora of other dim sum goodies available. On the main menu side of things, The Generals Chicken is always good as is the Mongolian Beef, tender and served only with green onions, yum! The hawaian BBQ beef was only strips of beef with a sweet sauce, not outstanding. The starters are usually really good. Especially the Fresh Shrimp Rolls with its peanut dipping sauce, filling and delicious. I can't reccomend the eggplant with garlic sauce. It should have been simple with eggplant and garlic, but they threw in every vegetable they had (so it seemed) and I'm one of those people who like vegetables done a certain way, well even the eggplant was not cooked all the way. bleh. But overall a great place to eat, very good dim sum and chinese food, great service. Cheap. Review #13571 Hunan Garden

Positive YUM YUM YUM, I have been coming here, on and off, about 10 years. For a single dish. Spicey Fried Chicken over Rice. It's no longer on the menu, but they continue to serve it up when you ask for it! Nice dry fried battered nuggets of chicken with some sliced jalepeno peppers and a small bit of an unidentifiable sauce on the rice, just enough so that you go hmm.. not bad! I travel to here from work during lunch on my motorcycle, once or twice a week. Cheap! under $6.00 and I have to refuse the soup that accompanys it. (I am on a motorocycle)! Negative Well after reading that La Taqueria was the BEST Choice in the 100 best bay area restaurants, I had to go get me one. Well, first off, the wait to order, then after you order, unlike most burrito places, you go sit and wait, and its this that they FAIL in my book. I can't see what the heck they're doing to my poor burrito. The guy working the assembly line for the tacos is slapping salsa faster then I don't know how.. but the point is, my burrito was probably a 4.5 on a scale to 10. It had chunks of tomato that were not ripe at all, and normally I do not get salsa, and its way too wet to enjoy, like a nice wrapped burrito should be. In fact I didn't know they didn't put rice on your burrito either. Boooo, I love rice on my burrito! The meat was only regular burrito fare. I won't waste my time going back here, when I can get a tasty La Cumbre Burrito, which I did 10 minutes later. RAD Review #13566 La Taqueria

Positive Sitting on the counter under a glass protective shield was one of my favorite things ever on a pizza... roasted garlic potato pesto pizza. I am a big man, in my day could eat a 1/2 extra large pizza.... easy. I order two slices and thats it. Large and yum. I live down the road, probably 2 blocks away from the edge of their delivery zone. I ride a motorcycle, so carrying a pie back to Hayes Valley is not in the cards for me. Positive If you could see me doing the HAPPY DANCE after eating here, you'd have to just try it for yourself! I go here because its walking distance from my work place. But even if it wasn't I would go here! The jerk chicken is so tasty, I have purchased 4 orders of just the chicken more then on a few occasions, to toss over some rice for dinner when I get home. The red snapper fingers with fries is another favorite that never gets tiring with their "special" spicy sauce. Positive I get the Falafel Deluxe with extra eggplant and fries. Hands down the best Falafel in the city. Using the long lavesh wrapping insted of the pita, then with a light spread hot paste, this "burrito" style falafel is one of the few all vegetarian meals I will eat with any regularity! Positive Hands Down THE BEST place in SF to get a burrito! The Carne Asada (steak) is what got me coming here 20+ years ago. The grilled chicken is what keeps me coming back now! The best flavored highest quality meat in a burrito in all the mission. And I have been in every place at least twice! A lot of my early visits I found buying two regular sized burritos was my best bet, because when you finish one, you'll want more of that delicious flavor! Now-a-days I get the regular with extra meat and thats a serious meal! There are places within walking distance that serve bigger burritos for the money, but they can't compete for quality of the meat or flavor of the meat! Although the guacamole is better elsewhere, I don't come here for that. Like I said BURRITOS. Not tacos - Not their meals, the burritos! yum! Review #12243 La Cumbre Taqueria

Positive Vegetable Briyani is the best in the city as far as I know. I can;t really compare their Naan, its good for sure. Their tandoori is excellent and you can order by the piece (ie.. 2 tandoori breasts) Prices are excellent. Their vindaloo is not as spicey as some make it out to be. Positive I have been coming here for years. What made me come back so often? My favorite burger, the western with bacon, cheese and grilled onions and BBQ Sauce. In the old days they had so much bacon on the burger you'd be piling it on and on and on, close the top bun lift up the hefty burger and still have two slices of bacon on your plate. These days they barely put enough bacon to distinguish there selves from any other bacon burger. Booooo, other then that this place still is in my top 5 for best burgers. Positive For a staple we always order the calamari and potatos. The calamari is golden not too greasy and delicious. This visit the potatos sauce was tasting of a lot of paprika. We also got the fish special, sesame encrusted mahi mahi with a salad and lentils. Also very good. Deciding between either a fourth tapas (jerk chicken) and desert was hard. We opted for desert seeing it was my companions birthday. A chocolate mouse pie w/ raspberry sauce and a caramel flan. The flan had an odd thin leathery layer at the bottom, but was otherwise good. The chocolate mouse pie was very rich. We also had a 1/2 pitcher of Sangria, which I must say gave me a great dinner buzz. I normally do not like Sangria but Cha cha chas makes a great Sangria. Neutral I live across the street from this place and really go there for one of two things. Fries and occasionally a cup of coffee. Their Fritz (fries) come in two sizes, I usally get the large which also gets choice of two dipping sauces, I love the ginger orange mayo... I had a crepe once, just not my style. The downside of this place and I mean DOWNSIDE, the one cashier gets everything (except the actually cooking) so if there are three people in line expect the line not to move for 15 minutes. The cashier is making the coffee, pouring the beer, mixing this putting that... its just too long. Especially if your waiting for a to go cup of coffee. Frustrating. Positive Basically how many other German restaurants do you know of in SF? This place is great, at least for what I enjoy the most and thats the spaetzle and the wiener schnitzle. However their beer selection is certainly worthy of mention. Everything they sell comes with its own style glass/mug. So when you have a Paulianer you get what good germans in germany get served in a nice pilsner style glass, while a hearty belgium bock gets a grand mug. Negative Well, we tried on one evening the famous chicago style patxi's deep dish, very not good, we both had a slice and took the rest home. Normally I love leftover pizza, but this was unedible. I do not understand any pizza place that places its toppings under the cheese without par-cooking them first or something. I mean garlic thats not roasted under the cheese is horrible and really ruins the pie, also the mushrooms, do get cooked, but they lack any character and just gum up the works even worse. On another occasion we tried the thin crust pizza and had it to go. It was a lot better, we enjoyed it, but when I need pizza this will not be the place (and I live across the street).
