Awesome spot for the good old comfort food in the heart of Polk St. Big old burgers/chicken sandwiches served any way you want. Great place for breakfast service as well. Everything seems to be priced just right. Get's a bit crowded on the weekends, but what did you expect for a great place on crowded Polk St.?

Great California cuisine in an almost entirely Italian neighborhood. I have been there around 6 different times and have never been disappointed. Great service and killer food. They have some really nice bartenders that know how to make great drinks in a hurry. During the North Beach Fair, Moose's is the best place to grab a cocktail or six and chill out on the inside away from the chaos....

If you are downtown, this is a great place to get average food- generally in a hurry. They do not have the highest quality of anything, but they do have everything. OK sandwiches and salads and such. Can be an absolute zoo though at 12 noon during a workday! Get in, grab that so-so lunch and get back to your desk before they notice you left.

For a downtown SF afternoon drinking and eating establishment, The Royal Exchange is in a class by itself. If you like it packed, the best time to go is 6ish on Thursdays and Friday's. All the mid 20 to late thirties- can't wait to get a drink crowd- shoot over after an afternoon at the office. Killer burgers, chicken sandwiches, daily specials and epic chili keep everyone happy until it is time to go home. Tons of beers on tap and a staff that seems to rarely turnover provide the patron's with awesome service. Roomy booth's line the window's on the inside and a bunch of round tables for group get together's. During the week only, closed on the weekends.

Thanks to SF Survey, I got to check out a place that I probably would not have had I not won the contest. Really cool atmosphere and decor- we went on a Tuesday night so it was fairly empty. We had the price fixe menu- scallops and risotto to start- NY steak and Halibut for the entrees- chocolate cakes for dessert. All were very good, but I could of sworn that my sliced steak was re-heated and not freshly cooked? Either way after dunking it in the garlic mash potatoes and gravy- all dryness magically disappeared. I almost feel sorry for them having to endure that location though- would probably do much better in a different neighborhood. Good attentive service at the table, but we were basically ushered to our table immediately after arriving (even though we were early for our 8p reservation) when we wanted to have a few drinks at the bar first. Either way- cool place, good food and good service. An overall 7.5 out of 10

Holy Christmas!, now that is some really good ice cream. No wonder they are a San Francisco institution. I have lived in SF for almost 10 years and never tried the place. What a mistake. Wherever you live in the city, it is well worth the trip- the most amazing ice cream shop ever! Very tough neighborhood to find parking, shocking I know, but well worth the effort.

Ok- I will give credit where credit is due. Victor's does make a great pizza. I normally order in from other places, but my buddies insisted that I try Victor's. Killer pizza and epic side meatballs for relatively good prices. Can't think of a better place in that neighborhood. Two thumbs up!!

This is one of those places with such a huge menu that you will never get tired of trying new things. This particular location atop the Macy's in Union Square is always packed so expect a wait. Without reservation's it is fairly easy to grab a bar table. Awesome food (for a chain), epic portion's, amazing dessert's and cool people will make you want to return. Great place to grab a drink and overlook the hustle of Union Square from the top of Macy's. The Chicken Marsala with the garlic mashed potatoes is awesome.

Good, not great, sushi. There are sooo many other killer sushi places to go- that are relatively close- that it makes it hard to pick Sushi Rock. But if you find yourself at the bottom of Nob Hill and do not feel like going 10 blocks to one of the better spots, then you may just enjoy yourself. Just try not to think about where you could of gone. Prolly a 7ish on a scale of 1-10. You get what you pay for though and Sushi Rock certainly charges less than the higher rated sushi houses do.

Taco Tuesday's may be the best night of the week for the single crowd to hit up the Blue Light. A mini Mexican menu of tasty $1 treats is served up to a crowd or Cow Hollow/Marina drinkers who would probably not be out on this Tuesday if it was not for the huge crowd that packs the this bar. A little more room is always available towards the back of the bar by the pool table.

They are really All Hat and NO Cattle!...Great reputation among all of the hotels and tourists-I was not really sure why though. Nothing special at all. I actually noticed (as did a few other reviewers) that everything kind of tastes the same. It tasted OK, but all the same. I actually think that their neighbor in the picture, Chef Gia's, has much better food, service and decor. If you want the food go to Chef Gia's, if you want the blah blah blah go to House Of Nanking.

Upscale Mexican food served Marina Style. If you do not have a reservation get prepared for an hour plus wait almost anytime that they are open. If you are looking for an epic brunch with a view, CityScape will be hard to match in San Francisco. Go early, make reservations- whatever you need to do. Aside from the amazing views (when the fog is cooperating) the brunch is absolutely endless. Everything you could ever want and then a bunch more. I was not so impressed with the dinner service, but after being blown away by the Sunday brunch there was really no way to fairly compare.

If "Best Omlettes Ever" seems to strong than just be rest assured that this S&G is one of the best places for breakfast eats on Chestnut. Huge variety of insane breakfast treats and a big clean open space with very attentive staff. You will come back again and again just to work your way through all of the different choices. Not as good as they used to be is a good summary. Not bad, but not as good as they used to be. Still probably one of the best Italian places on Union, but with North Beach right over the hill you will probably wish you had gone there instead. They do make amazing thin pizza's in one of those awesome wood burning stoves. Great wine and OK service. A little pricey for takeout, for the three of us it was just under $100. A good place for a date that wants Italian in a romantic setting, but does not want to leave Cow Hollow to get it.

Without a doubt the best place to grab huge slice SF Market St. style. Sure all the employees are covered in tattoos and piercing's, but they make a hell of a slice. They are located just feet from where the cable car makes it's turn by Market St. Ladies hold on to your purses and men go ahead and put your wallet in your front pocket- then head over to Blondies for an epic slice of pie. Great place to make a deposit in the karma account by buying on of the 50 or so homeless folks (that are always around) a slice and a coke....

Probably the worst pizza place on Union St. Their crust is hard as rock and they really skimp on the toppings. Now and then you will encounter a cool employee, but most of them have a horrible attitude. And what is the deal with water they serve? Every time I have been there, they have and old filthy water dispenser that NEVER has ice. If you want a warm glass of water served in a almost clean plastic cup to go along with your what seems like day old pizza, then this is your place. For me it has always been an Extreme Buzz Kill....Go to Amici's or Orgasmica on Filmore if you want a much better chance at being satisfied...

Also great chicken sandwiches prepared with a large healthy chicken breast. Get a basket split 50/50 with curly fries or steak fries and pick which you like best. Huge portions, great service and awesome food. It is no wonder that they are always very busy. They also have a great deck out back with umbrellas over the tables.

What a buzz kill! This place totally lives off of their name and the fact that they are open late night when there is nowhere else to go. I got a ham & cheese omelette that had boat loads of uncooked ham and what tasted like cheeze whizz. Horrible service time and time again. The entire chain is not bunk, just the one on Lombard as far as I can tell. If you have to go, go drunk at around 2am when you do not care how bad the food tastes or how bad the service is.

Good Mexican food, but they are not afraid to hit you on the head when you get up to the cash register. The days of the $6.00 burritos are long gone as far as Andale is concerned. I guess they figure that people in the Marina will have no problem paying up. The sad part is that they are right, Andale is always packed. Overall an OK Mexican experience, but for the money there is actually less expensive and better authentic food all over the city.

Best high end Asian food in this part of town. If you are lucky enough, you can get a table right on the street for great people watching. They also have a huge dining room, but do not show up without a reservation and expect not to wait. Eat at the kitchen bar if you want to be able to see the chef's prepare each individual amazing dish. Cool bar scene, but the bartenders would do better if they dropped the attitude. But since they are always slammed they deserve to be cut a little slack I suppose. Awesome experience all the way around, will be back many more times. This may be "The city by the bay", but the reality is that there are really not that many places where you can have a drink by the water. Without having to deal with all of the tourist traps in the Wharf, Pier 23 is a gem in the Embarcadero. An awesome place to go on sunny weekday afternoons to kick back with the downtown crowd. Great typical bar food and a huge back deck that always gets fairly packed by 4ish. Go early to avoid big lines.

It is really too bad, because this place has sooo much potential. If you know what I mean. This location does not really represent the chain or the good looking women of San Fran. Everyone knows that the food at Hooters is average bar food. Burgers, wings, chicken sandwiches and such, but where they normally lack in food they make up for with smoking hot waitresses. The girls here were nowhere near what patrons of Hooters in different cities have come to expect. If they hire some killer girls they can continue to serve the average food and get away with it, but without the girls there are better places to spend the day.

All in all not a bad place, but a little bit of a disappointment. Based on the awesome downtown location and being connected to one of my favorite hotels in the city I guess I was just expecting more. I would give them a 7 out of 10 on any given night. I actually thought the brunch service was better than the dinner service. Great Eggs Benedict which they serve a variety of different ways. The steaks though were nothing to write home about or return to the restaurant for. If they could just step up the dinner service by buying better meat they would deserve a better rating.

Great authentic Philadelphia style cheese steaks. Order yours "wizz with" if you want the old Philly standard, it means with cheeze wiz and grilled onions. Stick with the cheese steak sandwiches, that is what they do best. Delivery is normally fast and relatively inexpensive. You can also eat there and watch games on Jake's huge flat screen TV, but do not go there during a Philly game unless your on their side....
Better and bigger sandwiches then the cheese steak shop on Divsiadero. Plus, Jake is from Philly, the people that work at the place on Divisadero probably do not even know where Philadelphia is.....

Great place for a large group or family. Most of the dishes are served "family style", meaning they are huge portions that are best served from the middle of the table to be shared by 2-3 people. Try the spaghetti and "big as your head meatballs"....you also cannot go wrong with the chicken parmigana...Having a party? this place is great for takeout for large numbers of people.
If you really want the best Italian food in San Francisco, you will of course have to head to North Beach. But for the price and atmosphere, Buca is as good as can be expected from what is still a chain restaurant.

This staple of San Francisco will always be one of my favorite places. A great staff that rarely turns over and always provides awesome service. I moved away from SF for four years and when I returned to Izzy's- the bartender remembered my name and bought me a drink and a shrimp c***tail...
For the price you cannot beat their steaks. Some may say that there are better cuts of meat in the city, but certainly not for the price. After you pick your steak you pick your choice of two sides. Cannot go wrong with the Filet and sides of Izzies potatoes and creamed spinach...
There is a dining room upstairs that provides a little more of a relaxed atmosphere. Bring a business card to slide into the wall on the way upstairs. These walls are covered in patrons business cards from many many years.
They even have a shelf around the entire restaurant that holds all different kinds of steak sauces. Just walk over and grab whatever you want for your steak....

Finally San Francisco has a steakhouse that can compete with the best steakhouses in New York and Chicago. The owner's spent a bundle to build and design this place and did not miss a beat. The entire restaurant is lined with nostalgia from the Dimaggio days and big high back leather booths really set the scene for an awesome dining experience. Or if you prefer the bar area, there big leather stools and bunch of high six person tables to choose from. The menu and wine list are as expected- top notch. Even they have just opened, the enitre staff seems to be totally dialed in to the guests and work perfectly together. Our waiter told us that the steaks are from St. Louis. As far as the big cut of filet mignon, absolutely amazing!
Izzies, Bobo's, Harris's, Ruth Chris and any other steakhouses in San Francisco have some real competition that I do not beleive they can hold a candle to...The theme, the food, the drinks and the service are all unparalleled in San Francisco....
