We love this place. Mostly we get our own table, but once we sat with an East Berliner proudly wearing her folkdress and that was a great time. We order too much and then have leftovers, sigh! The portions remain gigantesque even though we've started to notice that a lot of restaurants have cut back on their portions due to the economy. I always like to order the salad in order to justify the pork chops, mashed potatoes, etc. coming up.

I paid a high price for their ceasar crab salad, but the crab was truly fresh and I didn't have to sit there and work my way through my meal. My dining partner was enamored with his clams. It's crowded, small and there is probably a wait, but I liked it a little bit more than Swan's. Not that any of us had room after dunking heaps of bread into his clam sauce, but they didn't offer a dessert menu. Service was attentive and friendly.

Stopped by for a drink before a show and the service was a little disorganized, but we hung out at the shellfish counter and talked to their chef. Sitting there we could appreciate how they understood quality food. Those platters of fresh shellfish looked really delicious, but unfortunately we had already eaten elsewhere. We had a bite of the ceviche and it was good, but we want to go back with another couple to enjoy that big platter.

I arrived a little after happy hour on a Friday night and both the bar and dining area was packed. We hogged the table, drank and ate for hours until the waitstaff was yawning. When we left, the DJ was playing music for less than six patrons at the bar. Everyone was happy with their meal. I enjoyed my goat cheese gnocchi with wild mushrooms. I was expecting a little more zing, but the pesto was delicately done and I could enjoy the other ingredients instead of being overwhelmed with garlic.
While I had a nice time, it's not a high priority for a repeat experience.

The food is authentic enough, but it's not special. For the price, we felt that Fresca offered a better and cleaner atmosphere and their food was better prepared. I had the saltado and husband had the tallarin with chicken. I was excited that they even had picarones (Peruvian donuts), but they weren't very good.

LOUD and busy. We were seated in the back with screaming, tired children. I'm a mom so I feel that I can say this: take your kid outside to have a tantrum. Let those of us who teach our children to use their indoor voices enjoy our meals.
Foodwise the corned beef hash was very good, but my spinach in my 'eggs Zorba' was a little burned. They have some very nice bisquits and home made jams. Our waitress was friendly, but getting water and coffee refills took a long time.

We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and they charmed us right off the bat by personalizing our menus with our names. I thought that was a cute touch. We chose the tasting menu and it was truly delicious. My husband was very impressed with the lobster reduction, everything was beautifully presented by the highly attentive staff. I felt that the portions were small enough to make it to the end. The restaurant is very pretty, the staff was friendly without being stuffy. We were not impressed with the wine pairing, but overall it is a great place for a special occasion.

This is so worth crossing the bridge. San Francisco has great taquerias, but we don't have a single good Mexican restaurant. I had the shrimp al mojo tacos which featured delicious grilled onions on just made corn tortillas. Husband had a steak thing which was fine, but nothing compared to our daughter's carnitas. They had some sort of seasoning on them and featured so much crunchy goodness. They make a nice margarita and the salsa they bring to the table with their chips is very special- smokey and rich. A bit pricy, but such a treat!

It's not to be missed. Their slaw and asian salad were special, too. My dining partner had the fried basket and the fish and oyster were great. Authentic Peruvian cuisine like you can get in a good restaurant in Lima. We shared the ceviche de pescado, the anticuchón, papa a la hancaina, the tamal and the seco de carne (de res) with Peruvian beans. The sauces were prepared with the real ajis, amarillo and panca and were truly delicious. Real Peruvian food is spicy so be prepared for the ajis. For dessert we shared the suspiro de lima which is essentially caramel (the stuffing in alfajores). Theirs almost tasted like abuelita was at the stove all day stirring the pot instead of the boiled sweetened condensed cans. It was child friendly (if your kids like spice). Our server was really nice, but could do with a little more training (he was leaning all over us to set the dishes down) and someone in the kitchen needs to back off on the salt. The ceviche and seco were too salty.

Finally a place that has reasonably portioned plates so you don't feel ill by the third dish. We thought the food was really special, we liked the space (although I felt out of place wearing color- you have to wear black apparently) even the bathroom was pretty. Every dish was beautifully plated and the tastes were out of this world. I've never felt so pampered with a staff of six waiting on nine tables. Coconut shrimp to Peruvian cuisine is like spicy curry to French cuisine. The authentic dishes (vs. the nouveaux selections) that are prepared exceptionally well at Fresca are: five elementos ceviche (just like what you can get in Lima), lomo saltado, aji de gallina, pollo a la brasa, chupe, seco, parihuela, arroz con mariscos. Also, get the fried yuca, and ask for the salsa a la huancayina. The other items are interesting (we all really enjoyed the causa tataki), but don't satisfy the craving for mom's home cooking. I speak Spanish when I'm here and I always have exceptional service.

Hands down one of the better dining experiences I've had in the Napa area. The service is wonderful, the food is divine, the restaurant is pretty.

I didn't think this was an inexpensive lunch. I was disappointed. Maybe I should've gotten something besides the (canned) beet salad! Everyone thought their lunch was fine, but nothing to rave about.

Do you live for poke? I live for poke and this place has at least three different kinds! They are to die for. The other sushi was a bit cold, but still pretty good. It could only get better if they made a tako poke.

Our 15-20 minute wait on Xmas in real time was 35 minutes, but that's the way it goes at this place. It's great, but you have to be willing to wait for a table. I've only been for dim sum (the eggplant is to die for) and this was my first time ordering off their regular menu. The broth on the chicken won ton soup tasted canned, the black bean sauce on the clam was goopy, but the clams themselves and the mongolian pork were sublime. Good rice, too. I hate it when restaurants give you cheap rice. Thumbs up for dim sum and so-so for the regular menu.

We got dinner delivered and I thought it was great, but a littler pricier than what I'm used to paying. The chana masala, mattar paneer, and sag paneer and the chicken tandoori, onion kulcha were fine. I agree with the other reviewers that it's not spicy enough, but the flavors are good.

This Chinese place has a Peruvian chef working in the back. If you know/want some 'chifa', ask him to come out. The Chinese is great, better than anything I've had in the avenues: squab, chicken, a whole fish, prawns all brought perfectly cooked and delicious. The ambiance? Well, the roof has been leaking.

It'll do if you're on this side of the Pacific. The portions are huge and cheap. I picked up one of those family packages for four and it satisfied 8 people. I would like the spam sushi better if they used sushi rice and nori sprinkles instead of sauce. For the price, it's superior to McD's etc. in taste.

Forget mashed potatoes, when I'm blue, I want pupusas at Zocalo's. They are my new comfort food. I just love hearing the smacking going on in the kitchen knowing that that's my dinner! Sick? Oh my- you have to have their soup, the beef even has yucca like my mom's. The siete mares is wonderful, too. The only thing missing from this place is the hot sauce. I don't know if it's not a salvadorean thing or what, but it could do with a little zing.

This place has great fish!! We sit at the bar and watch in amazement as people order the same old, same old. We never tell the chefs what we want, we always ask them to take care of us and they do! They know what's good that evening. Sometimes the wait is long, so order a beer and watch the crowds.

Skip the pizza and order the pasta. They make it fresh everyday! I had the 'open ravioli' which turned out to be lasagna type noodles in a delish cream tomato sauce with shrimp and veg. My husband had a hot Italian sausage, feta pasta thing. The owner recommended the panna cotta and the tiramiso, and they were so good that we had the cannoli, too. We loved it all, but the kids have ignored the leftover pizza in the fridge. That wasn't our favorite.

Compared to the Noe Valley venue, it's good, but not as exciting and it's smaller and more crowded. I was really disappointed in my Peruvian paella because it tasted like a stir fry with seafood...it was tastier the next day at lunch, but uninteresting at the restaurant. The salchipapas are great as are the ceviche and lomo saltado. The service is attentive and I was really put out by my family claiming that their alfajores are just as good as mine.

¿Savor? ¿Qué sabor? This is one of those places to be seen in 'the Noe Valley', but the food is boring. The service is great, but you have to wait so long to get in there and then once you're in, it's so loud that you have to yell at your friends.

I love this place for dinner...breakfast, not so much. Eggs and potatoes you can get anywhere. Crab salad with pork tenderloin and mashed potatoes? Steak au poivre that's made right? Frisse salad with petit lardons and poached egg? Duck confit with truffle oil? This might be the only place in San Francisco where I've seen île flotante on the menu. Be sure to order a side of french fries.

I HAD to have the lamb neck the minute I walked in and smelled it. My husband and I argued over who had the better dinner (he had the pork shoulder). We started with the antipasti which turned out to be the bestest charcuterie I've had on this side of the Atlantic. You gotta pace yourself here. I couldn't make it to dessert the portions are so generous, but they looked wonderful (and generous). Our waiter tried to dissuade my husband from the cookies, but they were fantastic.

I thought the food was OK, the restaurant was way too loud and crowded and that it was very stuffy. This is one of those restaurants that's been around forever and is well worth the drive across the bridge to eat there. One of the perks is that there is tons of street parking. This is a quiet little place not too far off from the Stanford mall and worth the drive there if you're in the area. It's organic and delicious. The atmosphere is a little formal, but the food and bloody marys are divine. They brought out fresh little bisquits with an apple compote while we waited for our chilaquiles, ricotta pancakes and the omelet. I normally don't order omelets, but I was intrigued by the butternut squash, s**take and arugula filling. It was great! My friends were a little put off by not having any artificial sweeteners or sugar free maple sugar available, but hey, not everyone offers organic sugar. The service was OK, but not great. I had to keep asking for more water for the table and mimosas.
