Took my husband last month for a treat. I knew that Yank Sing was expensive but boy did I get a shock. The prices are not posted anywhere so you really don't have any idea how much of a tab you are running up.
The dim sum was delicious, very good indeed. Great selection, fast service. We went at 1:30pm on a Sunday and I must admit that it felt like we were really being rushed. We really pigged out so I expected that the bill was going to be high but I wasn't prepared for $160.00 for two!!! Admittedly we went in hungry and ordered without abandon but still $160, not worth it. This was brunch and we didn't order any drinks! I can't imagine what the check would be if we had drinks!!
I used to go to Yank Sing regularly when I worked in the financial district. Totally disappointed. Will NOT return. Too many other good dim sum places that don't rush you and won't give you sticker shock.

Don't waste your time at Saylors Landing. Get back in your car, turn around and go back to Bridgeway and go to their new restaurant, Saylors South. Saylors South offers "Cabo Wabo" style Mexican fare and it is GOOD. Really worth a try.
I've been going to Saylors Landing since they opened. I sail with friends who have their boat next door at Clipper. The only reason we go to Saylors Landing is that it is close after getting in from a sail. Food is very overpriced for the quality. Everything is mediocre. Patio can be pleasant on a warm sunny day to sit and drink beer!!!
Take heed, try Salyors South instead.

Stopped by recently for the Imperial rolls. I used to go all the time but stopped a few years back as I just couldn't handle the uncleanliness of the place or neighborhood. Friend told me that they had cleaned up both the neighborhood and Tu Lan. I'm afraid my standards are a bit higher than his. I found the restaurant still way too dirty for my comfort. Imperial rolls were good, just as remembered but not worth trekking through this neighborhood. The restaurant can't help the neighborhood but they could clean up their act and maybe open a can of paint or two....
Now that there is plenty of good Vietnamese around it is no longer worth it to go to Tu Lan.

One of my favorite places in San Rafael. Food is reliable and solid. I go often. I have never gotten anything bad but a few items really stand out: Hearts of Romaine salad with gorgonzola, fried zucchini, anything with prawns and any of the ravioli specials. I often need only hear the daily specials to make my decision. Their ravioli specials are outstanding. Chicken/Veal, Crab, Butternut Squash. All great.
Staff is attentive and friendly. Good bar, wine list has reasonable wines that are very decent and of coarse great wine if you want to pay!!
Atmosphere is quite and nice. Not a big night scene but a great date place!

I have been to the Emeryville location three times in the past month. This is a great place but they need to solve their HVAC problem. Each of the three times I have been there it has been freezing inside!! I am hoping that they get this fixed very soon.
That said, this is a GREAT place. Their salsa rocks. Great variety at the salsa bar from mild to HOT. I liked all of them. I have tried various shrimp dishes, including the omelet and soft tacos. Both are great. The seasoning for the shrimp really works and they are grilled to perfection. Friend tried the vegetable with cactus quesadilla and raved about it as well. I could just sit there all day and eat chips with all the yummy salsas!
I can't wait to go back but unless they have the heating fixed I'm going to have to wait for the spring thaw..

Went with my daughter who is attending college out of state. Had been shopping in the City all day and stopped by for an early dinner. We each had clam chowder and a salad then split appetizers. Shrimp & Crab Skillet and crab cakes. Clam Chowder is nice and creamy. House salad good. The real stand out was the skillet. You have to peel the shrimp (I prefer to peel my shrimp prior to cooking...) but they are nicely deveined, firm, and delicious. Crab great as well. The butter herb sauce that they use for this saute is perfect. Crab cakes were good but could use a bit more flavor.
Hadn't been to the Franciscan in a few years. Being local I don't keep them on my radar as I tend to stay away from Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf . During the off season this is a great place to enjoy a relaxing dinner and a drink or two. Quite and calm atmosphere with a great view - perfect for conversation.

After reading many positive reviews I tried City View. Arrived just before 1pm on a Saturday. It was a cold January day and the temperature inside the restaurant was colder than it was outside. Every single customer had their coat on!! Not only did this make the meal uncomfortable all the food on the carts was cold as well!!
I wouldn't necessarily write off a restaurant for what might be a one time incident when they had a problem with the HVAC but things did not get better from there. The variety of dim sum was shameful. The usual offerings were there but nothing more. Shrimp & Chive balls, Shrimp balls, Sui Mai, pork buns - - not much else. I was surprised at the lack of choice. This is why I will not return. Too many better choices in San Francisco! The dim sum we did have was good.

I have been in three times since they opened. Really love this place. Nice change of scene in Marin. Very good food, friendly staff, laid back Island atmosphere. They are still getting into their groove with the service but everything is so pleasant you won't mind. Try the garlic shrimp - very yummy!!
