Paradise was ok... The seating was right next to an open door on a 45degree day. My back was cold, and I had to deal with some pretty bad drinks. My GF ordered lemonade that you could still taste the powder in, and my hot tea was mediocre at best. I ordered Chicken/Sausage Fusilli and my GF ordered pizza. The Fusilli had a soupy sauce, and everything just seemed wrong. The spices tasted cheap, too much basil, and that soupy sauce destroyed it. The pizza was pretty good, but I wouldn't call it the best crust in town. Go there if you want pizza but not so much for pasta.

Makiko and myself LOVED this place. We went with our friend Po and ate at the sushi bar. Oyaji was there making sushi and questioning us all about our tastes in girls/guys, politics and about what sake should be. We bought him a round of sake and the party began. The sushi was very well prepared, and the rice was amazing. Magoro was great, and the Uni was exceptional. Go there for the experience and the wonderful food.

This is the place I go after I read some manga. The best is the green tea and red bean paste crepe. It sounds like a strange combo, but trust me....very very good. It can get crowded at times, but thankfully the people who make the crepes are skilled so you don't get holey crepes. Great place for a date if you are in Japantown because all the places you can sit and eat are just small enough for two people to sit nice and close ;)

Le Colonial just screams something French, but its WAY more Vietnamese when you look at the menu. They make a very good mixed drink, but I thought the food was ok...not great but ok. When I'm paying premium prices for food, I want defined flavors and a wonderful bouquet of aroma's from the dishes I order. I would put the food quality as someplace near Chinatown food, but the decor was really good. If you are going for food, walk elsewhere. IF you want a good drink thou, Le Colonial is a good place to check out.

Very reasonable pricing and the food is really good. I love how there are some random assorted foods on the menu. Sushi and red beans/rice with fried chicken. I really enjoy the southwest chicken hash for breakfast, its spicy but very relaxing to eat. Brunch is the time to go if its your first time. Bring your appetite and enjoy your white cloth dining experience for under 20 bucks.

Its a very good place to eat. I love that its intimate when you are seated, and the whole restaurant is inviting you to relax. A nice tall beer, and a wonderfully cooked rib eye steak made my evening at Houston's complete. Go there with people that you are not trying to impress, but people you love to be with. The place is a little packed at times, but when you are seated you will not notice.

Pretty good Korean Sushi. The sushi is a little on the high side considering the quality. I ate alone at the bar (sad but true) and my entire bill was 25 bucks before tip...and I was a little hungry after I got done. The trick is to get the donburi or bento. Very friendly staff, and I like the fact that its usually busy. Pretty good, but I wouldn't think of Fuji if I wanted Sushi in SF. If you are in West Portal and you are hungry for Japanese, then its a good place to go.

I thought this place was great. We had a polenta with marinara and mushrooms. It was very wonderfully cooked. The polenta had a nice chew to it, and the mushrooms were so nicely cooked that it was like biting into small jewels. My main dish was a chicken pasta with white wine and veggies. It was not heavy, and the sauce complimented all the ingredients. Prices were very reasonable. My date and myself ate dinner with drinks for under 30 bucks..... Very knowledgeable staff and super nice interior. Totally recommend.

Yes, its touristy... However, its also very tasty. My personal favorite dish is rock shrimp with smoked salmon pasta. Wow, its very good. The cream sauce isnt too thick, there is just the right amount of salt, and the fresh herbs bring out so many flavors in the meal. The Chocolate cake for dessert is really good also. I would recommend going to this place with your friends from out of town. Great views and compared to other places, its not that expensive.

I love this place for beer. My friend Rob and myself enjoyed a crisp, wonderful beer along with some lamb empanada's. The lamb filling was ok, and the mint sauce that came with it didn't have a lot of depth to the flavor. A little bit of vinegar or something else strong to give a different dimension to the mint dipping sauce would have made it perfect. The beer is the reason to go there thou. Great beer, nice atmosphere, waitresses are nice and not annoying. I would go again and I will for another beer :D

Wow, just wow. Very tasty Naan bread and the spices were perfect. Lots of punch, perfumy, and full of body. Our tikka masala was excellent!! The chicken was very moist, spiced to let your lips feel a little heat and ohh.... amazing. Just mix in the oil of the curry and you have yourself a wonderful experience. I think the reason that most people complain about the grease here is because they dont use the amount of heavy cream or other emulsifiers to hold the oil in the curry. Most other places are too creamy but Shalimar was good and I will go there again :D

This is a good place to take people (Groups of more than 2) if they are new to San Francisco. The view is really the only reason to go to this place. The food is good, but its not spicy or seasoned like it normally should be. I would suspect that is because of the different tastes tourists have compared to other restaurants in the area. Awesome view, good mai tai's (too expensive thou...) and I would recommend the mu shu pork. If you have company and you want to show them a great view and just have a quiet place to talk, this is your place.

We got the 30 dollar "Lover's set". This came with 12 sushi (1 roll california roll/1 roll spicy tuna 6x2=12), 8 nigiri, and 6 pieces of sashimi. They charged a buck for tea which came in english style cups, little odd considering its a Japanese place. The sushi rolls were lacking one important element to them: The sushi rice element. There was no noticeable rice vinegar and very little salt to the rice. The rice was bland and had very poor mouth feel. The sashimi was frozen fish, you can tell because the flesh was grainy and the texture wasn't consistent. The Nigiri fish was cut super thin, so it was very tough to understand the flavors of each of the different fish. Overall, I would say this is a place to go if you really want all you can eat sushi. But honestly, I wouldn't go here again if I valued actually eating sushi.

I love this place for Pad Kee Mao. That is my dish that I test all thai places with and they passed. The noodles were firm and springy, the gravy was very nice and the slight perfume of basil and fish sauce. The veggies were crisp and not oily and just spicy enough not to permanently kill you. Perfect Pad Kee Mao. Also, they use ice that is the soft type that is fun to crunch when you are nibbling on it. I know that might not be a big deal to some, but its the little things that count.

Easily the worst Chinese food in Chinatown. The food I got wasn't cooked correctly. Either too salty, too sweet or oily. I have a feeling their oil wasn't hot enough because my food tasted oily and dead, not crisp and wonderful.
IF you are downtown looking for a place for Chinese, really.. just go next door to Jia's for actual Chinese food and matching atmosphere.

Nick's fish tacos is my default place when I am in the fish taco mood. This place actually turns into a nightclub at night, but I think they are doing just fine selling just fish tacos. I would suggest a nice margarita, some guac and chips with 3 fish tacos. You will be in for a melody of flavors for your mouth. Just imagine sitting on the beach with a big sombrero, and then take a bite of your taco. You'll be in Cabo in no time.

Thankfully I am in shape, but if this place was closer to me... I would have a lot of trouble. I love their monthly flavors!!! A coffee creampuff or pumpkin is probably the gift from above on a hot day. I know this weekend I had just one and a nice iced tea, and I entered the lower reaches of heaven. The crispy outside mixed with the coolness of the pudding inside makes for a sweet dance in your mouth. The people are very nice and its very cool to look at.

Quality food, quick service and clean place. I really enjoy going here when I have a guest from out of town. It's a very clean place and the food is different from the usual Dim Sum places. They have these tasty chicken with onion skewers that are friend, and then they put fresh bell pepper on the outside. TASTY!!! Also the waitstaff clears your table fast and the food is fresh and hot all the time.
It's a little more expensive than other places for the same or better food thou. If you walk a couple blocks up you can get better dim sum, but not the same experience. Make sure you get there in the morning :D

I have mixed feelings about this place. Last time I went there, the door man was giving me a hard time because I was in a party of two. My friend greased the door guy 10 bucks just to get a seat. I will admit that I liked the Vodka sauce plate de mar... But it really expensive compared to other places in the area. The only reason I would choose this place is for the view of Columbus on the top part, and that really isn't much to write home about.
It's full of tourists and I don't know why.

Wow, this place was sooo tasty. We had an calamari with olives salad to start. The salty olive was cut with the tenderness of the calamari. For main course, we had the lasagna and ham/peas tortellini. I was blown away by the subtle flavors of the ham and how mellow the cream sauce was on the tortellini. The lasagna could have used a little more oregano because it tasted flat, or a little salt. For dinner, it was terimisu and oohh boy tasty. Small hints of cinnamon and the espresso used was perfectly matched to bring out the cream.
Wonderful atmosphere and I liked it very much.

Tasty Tasty Dim sum. I would highly recommend the Bao buns there. There dough is so nice and soft that you are catapulted into a world of YUM!!!
Just watch out for the beef tripe if you like that sorta thing. It's not pre-seasoned, so you have to dip it into sauce like a noodle. Was still ok but just a little O_o for someone who isn't used to the cuisine.

Well I can't really give them flying colors on much.
The food while the same on the menu is always different. Sesame buns, plain, poppy...all over the place. French friends, no steak fries, no back to string fries... All over
The service is doing probably the best they can given that they have one waitress for the whole place. Pretty decent place for groups of 20+ assuming you call ahead and then call again to double confirm.
All and all... It's ok... but I wouldn't go there unless I had a reason.
