“
Goodness, what a mess. Upon entering the dining room, I immediately knew something was amiss because the entire place was filled with a haze that made my eyes water. I don't know if the exhaust system was out of whack that night, but it was seriously unpleasant and my clothes stank the next day. Service was well-intentioned, but frazzled. They appeared to be under-staffed. As for the food, my turkey burger seemed slammed together and did not sport the sprouts that were mentioned on the menu. Maybe it was an off night, but I'm not eager to go back to find out. ”

“ I knew there was a review I had forgotten to write, and looking over my bank statement this morning, I finally remembered when I noticed I was charged twice by Flipper's for one meal: 11/26/07 $28.87, and 11/26/07 $26.00. Now I'm wondering what other random charges I'll be seeing. For the fun of disputing charges and replacing cards, I give flipper's both a neg and the finger. ”

“ Continuing my quest of finding the ultimate burger we dropped into this neighborhood dive. The nice thing was that they had outside seating which can make a bad meal acceptable! Seated right away and given sticky menus, we had to ask for the table to be wiped of someone's prior grease. Not good for a first impression, dirty and dingy! But we still had a mission! We both ordered the big flipper, which comes with it all! Service was sloooow and it wasn't even noon yet, but at least our cool beers had come quickly. The burgers arrived and were both overcooked and not rare as requested. So now what do you do? Send it back and wait another 15 minutes and piss the cook off (never piss anyone handling your food) well, the fries were good, the salad lacked sufficient dressing, and the dill was not good kosher dill, just something that had drowned in vinegar a long time ago. This was a tie to Carl's $6 burger but with better fries and salad. Not my ultimate this time, I ‘ll keep looking

“
I have lived in and around Hayes Valley for about 100 years and somehow never been to Flipper's. I went a couple of weeks ago and have already been back twice. While not the smoothest of servers, our waitress was very down to earth and just doin' her job. I especially love you get salad AND fries with your burger. Not the absolute BEST burger in town, but certainly a bargain for the price. If you want fancy, skip Flipper's. If you want lots of food and a comfortable spot, go immediately. ”

“
The inside of this restaurant is extremely dirty, I wouldn't trust them for sanitation. The service here is rude and slow, and our food was burnt. My french toast was black on all sides and the waitress initially refused to remove it from our bill. After having waited 45+ minutes for inedible food my patience was wearing thin and I informed her she HAD TO comp it, which she proceeded to do after having a long conversation with the manager. The unburnt food was terrible, don't go there for breakfast food! I know won't be returning. ”

“ Flippers is convenient if you live in the neighborhood, but don't go out of your way to dine here. You can get better burgers in other places. The milkshakes are tasty though, so if you do find yourself here, be sure to get one.

“ Umm, am I missing something? I thought it was ok, not spectacular. I prefer the burgers at Barney's. Also, now that Hayes Valley is in its post-up and coming neighborhood state, parking is impossible. So, take a cab to this burger place and avoid the stress of the quest for parking. Ok, so burgers are soso, parking horrid, service nye, sorry Grey Dot of Neutrality for you guys.

“ this is my favorite place to get a burger in san francisco! the selection of burgers is vast and you can get the patties in beef, turkey, or vegetarian. it's a great deal since you also get salad and fries with your burger, too. hint: skip out on their pancakes--they were bland and not fluffy.

“ Even if you're not in the mood for a burger which are good, they have hearty salads and a great chicken wrap. I love the friendly staff, so un San Francisco...it's like being in a small town. And a great outdoor patio well protected from the street.

“ I have eaten dinner here many many times and breakfast 3 or 4 times. I do not think I was ever disapointed in the food here. I have had better, but when you live near a burger shop... well enough said. A very good deal, burger, fries and salad for under $10. Their milkshakes are very good! Breakfast is your average run of the mill dennys style. ”

“ Yeahhhhhhh! I spent so much money here, because it was soooo good. On my way home from work at least 3 times a week I would call ahead from the bus and order my take out. I love the chicken fingers, the Teriyaki Maui burger, the bacon cheese burger, in fact all of the burgers. Also the stake fries. Breakfast is good there too. ”

“ In their laid-back way, featuring all that "flips" - the large burgers are nicely done and gently placed on a sesame seed bun. Steak style fries and salads are tasty too. My other favorite thing that flips, is the pancakes or any of the breakfasts for that matter. If it's a typical SF kinda day, the Hayes Street location and the lovely patio give this restaurant a nice appeal.

“ OK, I eat here more than I like to admit. HUGE burgers served with fries and a salad. The place could use a good cleaning, and the tables are down right sticky at times, but they make a great burger. Other traditional fare on the menu plus breakfast served all day. Has a large patio that is great for hanging out on sunny days. ”
