“ Went here for burgers and fries early on a Saturday evening. I was not at all impressed. The burgers were okay and the sweet potato fries were different but the regular fries were nothing special. Frankly, I like the burgers at my local Burgermeister better. My companion did really enjoy her Ahi burger. I was not happy either that when the debris from the prior diners was cleared off our table, there was no return trip by the busser to wipe off the table. I had to do it myself with tissues. With all the other more interesting food options in the Ferry Building I don't think I'll bother with this place again.

“ This is a great place to take teens! I mentor a young lady and she will only eat “American” food, which means hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries and chicken fingers. We poked around the ferry building and then got into the line at Taylor's, it went fast. We ordered a hamburger, chicken strips, onion rings, drinks and a chicken club ($30). My teenaged friend loved the hamburger and the chicken strips. I was not that happy with the chicken club; it was small and nothing special. The onion rings were good, beer batter and all. I was really impressed that they use all compostable utensils, plates and cups. It made me think about all the Starbucks and McDonalds packaging that goes right to the landfill, if only all fast casual restaurants/coffee shops used compostable wears we would be set. Good choice Taylor's, thanks for thinking of the planet and making your business green! Enjoy! ”

“ 9/07 Sun 2 pm. Taylor's crowd had thinned out. The line was short. Weren't we lucky? My visitor ordered the hamburger, me and my lady opted for the fish taco. Big mistake! For $10, I got 2 tacos filled with heaps of “mexican” coleslaw. I bit and bit deeper, no fish yet. Then I pulled out the slaw. Found 2 thumb-sized pieces of Halibut on the bottom. They were sauteed and tasted well. I forced myself to finish the first taco. But then I thought and thought. Was I being cheated of a proper portion of fish? I had fish tacos before, of different styles and making. This one had the least fish for the price. I complained to the manager. He looked inside the second taco and agreed. He said: “Sometimes the cook might put in a wrong portion”. He offered a replacement. I gave him a second chance. For sure, the new taco came out with equal portions of fish and coleslaw. Now that should be the new QC for Taylor. My lady did not want to repeat a scene. She finished hers already. She's on a diet! ”

“ The best burgers ever! i don't know how many times i've stop by to pick up a burger. even though the line can be long, it's worth the wait. Parking is horrendous but taking a walk there isn't so bad. you'll need to walk after you finish up your meal. :D ”

“ After seeing it in a food magazine I decided to come and give the ahi tuna burger a try since the picture in the magazine looked so good and it was! You wouldn't feel guilty eating it since it's fish. Sweet potato fries are good too. ”

“ This place is evil good. I had the infamous sweet potato fries, and the waitress casually suggested we get the side of ranch dressing instead of the ketchup/catsup. Oh my good God, was that a deadly combo. My stomach was in hog heaven...for about an hour, and then my stomach punished me severely for eating fried food and dairy. TOTALLY worth it.
The garden burger was also quite good, although the bun was a lot sweeter than I usually prefer.

“ I was craving a burger and my Google search came up with a top 10 list from Gayot. Taylor's was listed and was close by so I decided to give it a try. I got the regular cheeseburger and thought it was just ok, the Taxi's burger I had the week before was much better.

“ The burgers are really tasty and fresh. Sweet potato fries were good, but not as good as I expected. The vanilla shake was delicious. However, the amount I paid for this food (and this was shared by 2 people) came out to almost $20. And the waiting in line is crazy! It took about half an hour to order... But I think everybody will be satisfied with the quality of the food, probably just not the prices.

“ not terribly impressed with this place---heard people raving, checked it out & couldnt really figure what all the fuss was about. the garlic fries were very oily and miniscule in portion size & expensive! the chinese chicken salad? ive had better at the grotto down at Macy's. i didnt try the hamburgers but i will say the shakes were good. For my money, ill go to Barney's when i want a good hamburger & fries.

“ If you like old style burgers then Taylors will hit the spot! I'm on a quest to visit burger joints! Expensive, yes, Good, yes, service, hot and cold. Return yes, if someone else is paying. Very expensive for the burger you get! Expensive rent=expensive burger! ”

“ We found this place to be affordable and tasty. Two people ordered the Blue Cheeseburger - it was delicious. I had the cioppino, also good (it came with two pieces of toasted, buttered sourdough). One person ordered the hot dog - the placement of mustard, ketchup & onions was artistic! ”

“ Take your SF visitors to Taylor's, as they will delight in the very California, gourmet-style burgers. The menu isn't vegetarian-friendly. Often greasy sides will fill your belly and leave you wishing you walked the rest of the Embarcadero.
Best milkshakes? Possibly... but I'm not totally sold. Original flavors like blueberry and white pistachio keep me interested though. ”

“ If you really want a down home, All-American hamburger, Taylor's is not the place. Though they have a variety of different types of burgers, their standard hamburger/cheeseburger is quite small and very average in taste. The fries...I would just pass on that. I do commend them on their made-to-order process that promotes freshness and their extensive menu of fuu-fuu sandwiches. But the massive assembly line they have in place to serve in this fashion is unbelievably slow. Granted, I went on the weekday during lunch hour. But 20 minutes for a hamburger? You must be kidding. On top of that, you'll be paying a hefty price for boring-tasting fast food. ”

“ While I have also been to the St. Helena original Taylor's, the one at the Ferry Building has it's own charm. It is certainly much busier than the one up-Valley, and the busyiness can be a bit much. The food is still great, and if they have the Ahi burger, certainly try it. It was wonderful. ”

“ Once again, I love the outdoor seating so I love this place. It's so San Francisco when you're sitting outside looking up at the buildings. I absolutely love the "Miss Kentucky" chicken sandwich. It's huge and has just about everything on it including caramelized onions. I'd suggest splitting it with someone. ”

“ Sometimes I get in a fish and chips mood, but I almost always regret ordering that when I taste the bland fish. I mean, if you're gonna induce a heart attack with deep fried food, it might as well be worth it. But the fish here was so flavorful and fresh. Oh it was so good, as were the chicken fingers my friend ordered. ”

“ I was so jazzed when this place opened as I have eaten at thier Napa location and its a great yummy 'semi-fast food spot' . I was a bit dissapointed in the quality of the burgers---I really expected more. Fries were OK...soups are nice. I've been twice now...and will probalby try again..as those visits were early on when they just opened...there is always a huge line at luch and weekends...so I am hoping things have gotten better :) ”

“ I've eaten at their spot in St. Helena many times on napa trips, and I was very excited about having one in the Ferry Building...but, for whatever reason, the food tastes better in Napa. I'm not sure if it's because I'm paying $40 for 2 burgers, fries, an appetizer, and drinks and that seems more acceptable in wine country than in my own back yard...but, for the money...a double double animal style @ IN N OUT gets the nod. ”

“ Just had a taylors today. I really like the quality and the shakes are great. Onion rings are a little greasy but very yummy. The burgers are some of the best around. It is true, that for whatever reason, the original location is better. Pricey, yes, but worth it! ”

“ I’m sorry but lunch for two with hamburgers just is not worth $ 30++ bucks. Originally their burgers were 4 bucks at their stand in St Helena. Now that St Helena is upscale and they have a branch here in “thecity” the burgers with fries and a large coke are not worth 15 bucks each!
The food is fresh but waaaayyy overpriced. Service is adequate and the menu selection is good. They have fish and chips that are cheaper than the burger lunch! They are the only burger place around the marketplace and That’s why tourist flock to their establishment. Bring back the Hippo or
Give me a Zim's burger anytime!
