You have to at least go there once and that is exactly what I did. I went there once and never go back. First, it's a tourist spot and I'm not a tourist. Second, the food is not spectacular and overpriced. It's a Hard Rock Cafe, if you live in SF, once is enough. Review #14767

HRC SF is a good place to take friends that have never been, if you like rock music, enjoy looking at the memorabilia, this is not a bad bet. The drinks are pretty decent. The food is standard; sometimes inconsistent; to be in the safe side; try the buffalo wings, fudge brownie, the burger's are often too dry. This place would be a much bigger crowd puller if it had live music more often; like all the other HRC's overseas. It is worth a trip at least once. Review #14194

If you take the Hard Rock theme away, its a average restaurant. This is a tourist restaurant near the pier with tourist prices. The food and service are fine but not great. Review #11677

If you're on the hunt for firsts, this might just be the place. I have never had a well done prime rib, but I did at the Hard Rock. The Caesar salad almost made this a neutral, except for the other first--I've never, ever seen four bartenders go as far out of their way to ignore just about every single customer, three deep dying of thirst and waving cash at the bar. If management was not aware this was going on, the place needs new management. If they were aware, the place desperately needs new management. Obviously there isn't much incentive to be any good at what you do when the tips are crap, but then that's kind of a chicken-and-egg thing, isn't it? If you're unhappy slinging mojitos for cheap tourists, maybe you shouldn't be a bartender at Pier 39. Review #10700

It seems I remember that the food used to not be so bad. That was in the mid 90's though. I don't know which changed more, me or HRC, but the food seems icky now. Don't get me wrong, I am not above some fried comfort food now and then but the last time I was here it seemed really low quality and way to expensive for what you get. Review #9016

The Hard Rock chain was way cool... in the 80s. I remember going there in high school and just being mesmerized by the collection of music and movie memorabilia. Now I wouldn't go there if you begged. Not even if I have tourist friends in town would I go- I mean we have enough touristy places that are more decent. I guess the food isn't horrible, but the noise is truely barbaric. I don't like shouting 200 decibels just so my dining companions can pass the salt. Cranked up music is ok for a club or bar, but it just isn't my thing for a nice lunch or dinner. Review #5925

You can do much better than the Hard Rock. Very touristy and the food is nothing exciting - lots of fried generic food. Good place to take out-of-towners who really want to go to a Hard Rock Cafe in San Francisco. Review #5916

I used to love the Hard Rocks in the 80s when I was in HS...and to be honest, their fare isn't bad if you're playing tourist somewhere because you know you'll get a decent burger, etc...but you won't be blown away by this or any other chain. Enjoy the rock memorbilia and throw back a couple of cold ones and all will be good...but you won't be craving a visit the next day. Review #5638

I've eaten there a couple times---you know they send the whole buy 1 meal get one free every few months...so it makes it worth it. The food is standard chain food...not too bad...very basic nothing exciting. If you feel like playing toursit in your own city make a day of it and play down in the wharf...it can be fun :) Review #3915

The only thing that I can think of in going to this place is if, I have relatives or friends that never been into a Hard Rock before. The food is traditional American and taste pretty good. The prices may vary but it's still a good place to eat dinner or lunch. It's a tourist hot spot, where you see all types of Rock & Roll collections from different types of musicians from vintage Harley Davidsons motorcycles to vintage clocks from the 1950's. Can we smell tourist attraction? Review #2378

You gots to be kidding me! Ok, if you or someone you love (and I mean REALLY love) just have to go for the novelty of it, then go. But please don't be a repeat customer. There are just so many truly unique dining experiences to be had in the City, why settle for a chain on steroids? Review #1691
