I had some colleagues in town once who wanted to see the marina and eat seafood. I found cafe maritime and have been there many times since. The food is great, the service is excellent as well. The crab cakes there are a must have as well as the iceberg wedge for a starter. I am also partial to the lobster roll sandwich which is incredible as well. The atmosphere is very casual and it is a nice place for a date or a small gathering. The bar is a bit small as is the entire restuarant so if its crowded it may not be the best place to hang out and wait. Overall I highly recommend checking this place out for dinner. Typically it isn't that hard to get in and with a reservation you are golden. Review #20659

Yummy, not pricy, and easy to get a table at. The calamari there was some of the best I have had. Best of all, the food is fresh. I would go back more often if it was in my neighborhood, but the area is not my cup of tea. Review #17494

Surprised it has lasted here. Great for the people coming off the bridge and hungry for greasy overly battered sea food. Crab cakes had only a hint of crab, not worth it! It was almost empty, because it's too expensive for what you get! Review #13576

I ate here the 1st week they opened, and have returned 6 times. Barbara loves this place, I'm okay with it, though it is not my favorite seafood joint. Pluses: Clean preparations, low oil, Great tasting lobster roll. Nice wine list, friendly staff, easy parking if you know the secret spots. Stays open 'til 1:00am... My picayune negatives: Portions are small, prices aren't. They've gone thru 4 chefs of variable talent levels since start-up, the 1st was the best. He went off and started some famous restaurant in the Mission. Now that I've got Barbara hooked on Taddich Grill and Pacific Cafe for fish, she doesn't clamor to go to Maritime much anymore, though I do watch her stare longingly at the storefront when we drive past. You try it, see what you think. Review #13461

A pleasant seafood restaurant with a pleasant ambiance. I had the crabcake, and while it didn't fill me up, it was delicious. So, good seafood, slightly on the pricey side (as you would expect for good seafood) - staff were friendly, and amusing. - I'll go again when my wallet can next take it. Review #11720

I was happy to try something on Lombard for a change, but it was a very mixed bag of food and service (good appetizer, overcooked entree, etc). I can't say it was negative, just not up to par in an area with so much else to choose from. All in all, I don't plan to return again. If it was really well priced, maybe I'd go for the value, but it wasn't good enough for that. Better off at Rose's on Union Street or Baker Street Bistro. Review #11664

Can't say I was too impressed with this place. I guess they're known for their crab cakes but what I got wasn't much of a crab as it was a cake. They were pretty weak on the crab meat for the salad, too. We mistakenly got fish and chips to share not really thinking that any time a server says lightly battered and fried what she really means is: "Hey , what the f**k do you expect? The fish is dredged in thick, cement-like batter and we fry the hell out of it". Our fault, should've known. After eating at Gary Danko and Range that same weekend we were the wrong people to eat at Cafe Maritime. Oh yeah, you also get the 20-30% Lombard street markup compliments of our cities thriving tourism. Review #10412

The food at Maritime Cafe doesn't stand out in comparison to other seafood restaurants, but I still really enjoyed every part of my meal (crab house salad, crab cakes, and halibut). What does stand out is that this place isn't packed. My party of five arrived at 8pm for a 7:30 reservation, and they sat us as soon as we walked in the door. The place filled up throughout our dinner, but there was never a wait. The decor, a seaside painting on one wall, wood floors and tile bar ceiling, is soothing and simple. Review #7505
