“ Two carnitas tacos on handmade tortillas with cheese, beans and lettuce: $4.95. My positive review of Pancho's stems from the fact that I find it hard to nit-pick a fast food joint. I got two heaping mounds of carnitas posing as tacos for less than $5. What's so wrong about that? It may not be great, but that's what you get for 5 bucks. Pancho's isn't in my hood, so I wouldn't visit it frequently, and I would probably go neutral on the review had I eaten there more than once. The thick handmade tortillas lack seasoning, and the carnitas lack succulence or spice -- one or the other would have been nice. The salsa bar is good, though, with pico de gallo, sliced jalepenos, and both red and green salsas. Chips seem homemade because they are just slightly coated in oil, but they're super thin and crispy. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at Pancho's, but I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid it either. ”

“
I love the chicken taco at Pancho's! There something about the corn tortilla here and it's served with a good size portion of nicely shredded chicken. Adding additional toppings compliments the taco even more! I love discovering good food and knowing that my money is well spent. Pancho's is definitely on my list of GOOD EATS! ”

“ I agree with the positive reviews here. It's relatively close to my home, so I figured I'd start at the top and work my way down the menu. I had the #1 Chicken Taco Plate. They were delicious and the homemade tortillas were a definite plus. The guacamole, is essential and is NOT included when you order the tacos a la carte. Each time I've gone, the food was good.
The negative reviews here must be from the owners at either a competing restaurant or somebody who has something personal against this place. The food was good and when I get off my Master Cleanse, I'm heading back there. ”

“ This may not be the most authentic taqueria but I have to disagree with the 2 first reviewers. The food is tasty, fresh and if you want a burrito, it's far better than Gordo's. The place is clean and the people friendly. It's definitely not El Toro in the mission but it's worth stopping in if you're hungry and in the Inner Richmond. ”

“ I have to strongly disagree with the previous reviewers- I don't know what they're thinking, as Poncho's is top notch food. Perhaps they (the reviewers) have other personal favorite places and make comparisons (this is obviously the case with the first reviewer). This seems far too subjective; Poncho's should be judged on it's own merits. As for burritos not being mexican, I assume one reviewer is thinking of them as a California food... well, CA was once Mexico, and burritos are also common in certain northern parts of that country. Cuisine is bigger than national borders- it's a thing of a culture and people. My take on Ponchos: Fast, fresh, friendly, and delicious. The salsa is truly excellent. But don't take my word for it- go there yourself. There is one on Geary at Stanyan as well. ”

“ Yuck. I don't know how this place stays in business, but there always seem to be a few people inside. There is a dearth of good mexican food in this neighborhood, but if you must, go to Gordo. Otherwise, go over to the Mission for something not just way tastier, but way cheaper. ”

“ Well it looked like a good mexican restaurant by the number of gringos stuffing their faces with burritos (not mexican food) and other heaping plates of food! All I wanted was some carnitas or maybe melanase, but no, not here! Why not, we have most of the cooks up here anyway? Well this poor excuse for a mexican Restaurant serves too much of the food you never ever see in Mexico, except in tourist places. The thing that I did like was the salsa bar, with several fresh hand made salsas. It had at least one 1st alarm salsa, made from the chile Arbol. The bill of fare here is tostadas, chips with mounds of indescribable stuff on top, tacos, burritos, burritos, and more burritos. Oh, please take me to somewhere on Mission St at least! The tortillas here were tasteless. (have you every tasted fresh hand made tortillas IN Mexico?) The prices were whatever, the service was helpful and friendly, but the total mexican food experience was severely lacking, Sorry Amigo, no proximo tiempo! ”
