“ Interesting location for a restaurant and if you don't pay attention, you might miss it. The restaurant is pretty small with plenty of tables for 2 making it a great place to bring a date. We did not have any reservations so we sat at the bar. We had two appetizers, I believe the is Bacalao with Oyster and Braised Short Ribs and Cabbage. They were delicious. ”

“ I thought the food was OK, the restaurant was way too loud and crowded and that it was very stuffy. I went here because of a TV show review and I ordered the piperade...I swear it's the easiest thing to make on this planet. Yummy, but not special. If I ever go back, I'll order the duck or something.

“ This was one of the best Basque french Bistro experiences in the city! The dining room is somewhat noisy but your attention is removed from the distractions by the quality of the food. The squid appetizer where the whole flesh is presented, done to a proper texture not rubbery nor overcooked is one of the best! The whole prawns were done to perfection with a lasting sauce. One of my favorites was the sweetbreads done with a Madeira reduction! We split the Turron mousse which satisfied the last bit of decadence for the night! Looking at an adjacent table, the orange beignets will be my next trips purpose! The service here is acceptable to unfortunately we had garner the attention of the waiter one too many times to call this a perfection of service. Pricing is moderate, the wine list is sufficient to drop a couple of big ones, on some special vintages. All in all this is a return for a great dinner experience. ”

“ Upscale but unintimidating and warm atmosphere. I went a while back so I don't remember specifics but I do remember that everything was great.

“ QUACK, QUACK at Piperade. I am a huge duck fan, perhaps from my years of living in France where dining on duck is a national pasttime, but the rich, decadent flavor of duck sends me into orbit. My lastest experiences in duck dining have been real flops, having been served fatty, watery and unappetizing duck creations, even at top restaurants. As soon as I heard Gerald was serving confit at his wonderful Piperade, I waddled over as fast as my little webbed feet could carry me. It was sublime. Deep, Dark, Rich, Super Spectacular Duck with that warm, inimitable flavor, seared to perfection, sending me into orgiastic ectasy. I am basking in the afterglow. Duck cooked too rare often ends up tasting like veal, or worse, but Piperade's version has restored my faith in my duck fetish. Superb. delightful butter lettuce salade beautifully presented and absolutely exquisite desserts, ultra creamy cream caramel and spectacular kefir cheese candied squash! Yum. delightful Sainte Estephe. ”

“ delicious! From start to finish, the meal and service were impeccable (and at a very reasonable price). The menu is similar to Fringale, but Piperade does it so much better. The dayboat scallops I had here were the best I've ever had--I think about them all the time. dessert was to die for. ”

“ Having visited the Basque Country last summer, I can tell you that the food here is definately an upscale version of traditional Basque cuisine. I appreciate that they offer wines from small villages in the Basque country. The piperade is just like Amatxi makes it! ”

“ This place has been around for a few years now and is going strong - and it should be. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Lamb chops are maybe even as good as Kokkari Estatorio's (OK, different style, but on a par). I can't remember what else we had, except it was all really tasty. I really liked the ambience - it was warm and cozy and classy and it made me feel as if I were somewhere else - not that you need to feel anywhere else when in SF! ”

“ First the great Iluna over the hill in North Beach, now this place. Basque is the next wave, I guess! And I say, "Bring it on!" I really liked the whole experience: food, wine, service. Highly recommended. ”
