“ Being a 4th generation San Franciscan and raised in restraunts, this place by far one of my favorites. Even though we have moved north of SF,, I always come back to eat here. If you have not tried it, you should. Doesn't get more down home than Il Pollaio. Over the past 15 years we have seen many famous people while dining... Rubbed noses with local leaders and made new friends.The food speaks for itself. Wonderful and always fresh. Service, natural and fun. Prices very reasonable. Yes, it is quite small, but does not deter from the experience. 5 stars BRAVO! ”

“ I've been enjoying this place for years. It's great both for take out and eating in. Not only is the chicken great, but so are the other dishes. You get a huge serving when you order the lamb chops and I like the grilled sausages as well. The eggplant appetizer is so good. The service is always friendly and competent. This really is a great neighborhood place. ”

“ Absolutely superb grilled chicken in North Beach made by italians from Argentina. Eat there or take out (1 whole chicken plus a large salad and a generous bag of french bread make a delightful and affordable take-out dinner for two, one of the best in SF). The chicken is scrumptious. Once after complimenting the owner chef's daughter about their chicken, she jokingly told me it was the equivalent of any street vendor's in Argentina! In the City, however, I have found it to simply be our best. The congenial owner chef is from Calabria, Italia, his charming family from Argentina and they will charm you while you're there. If you do dine at the cozy Il Pollaio restaurant on Columbus, wash the chicken down with one of their delicious full-bodied south american REDS. Campai! ”

“ One of my favorite places in North Beach. The specialty (as you might guess from the name) is roast chicken and it is amazing. Also have really good pork. Menu is small and simple as is the space. Grab a table by the window and watch the people go by and enjoy simple yet mouth-watering food. ”
