walked in three top...easy seating...then the disclaimers begin...too small kitchen food will arrrive famly style...which is nice but falls apart here at a three top...so, we have a veg a fish eater and oemone who wants the offal offerings..but the plates come one at a time...so only one person is eating at any given time...the food was ok the list nice and service aside from the idea that they couldnt get food out beyond one dish at atime...ok...for this part of town that is filling rapidly with closed signs and an alarming amount of sf chains..askew plutos amici etc.... Isa, with us I had a very nice dinner at Isa last night. We went with the pre-fix $22PP, 2 course meal. They offer this M-T and I thought it was a pretty good deal. I found the portions to be perfect size for two.The wine list is not that big, but very reasonable. Make sure you go with someone you don't mind sharing with, because they tell you that all dishes are meant to be shared!" Review #19127

This would have been a great dining experience if the waiter had not told us that the special thing about Isa is that everything is served "family style." Everyone orders a couple of things they like and then shares. This works great at restaurants that bring out platters of food for everyone to share, but not when the portion is so small it would leave even one person wanting more. The menu makes a point of stating: "This is not a small plate restaurant", but every plate that came to our table was tiny. Our mouths were watering over those six prawns, but sharing them with a party of five? And the 4" diameter puck of crab salad: "Oh, that tablespoonful of salad was soooo satisfying!" We spent $30/person (NOT including the wine), and not one of us felt full or even satiated. There were adequate vegetarian choices on the menu, but it really wasn't fair to the one vegetarian dining with us to have to share what little there was of them. If we had all just eaten the starter and t Review #18718

The place is cute. didn't know about the back portion of the restaurant when I went there but it's very cute with the string lighting and porch like scene. If I go again I will make sure I get to dine in the back. The food was good but portion is on the smaller side. Review #18634

I might have thought the food was awesome if I hadn't gotten worked up w/ high expectations for ISA, based on the reviews on this page & a particular local TV show. Forget about the "family style, meant for sharing" concept...each dish is a generously-sized portion for one person. All of our dishes were delicious: lobster broth, foie gras, lamb chops, and creme brulee. We had a great table at the back of the patio area. Felt a little crowded in on all sides, but they did a good job with the heating (during the 20 F stretch) & warm lighting. Great place for a small group of friends or a date. Review #18132

Loved the food. Excellent foie gras. A bit pricey but would definitely go back again. Leek and potato soup was also yummy. The flank steak was a little tough....wouldn't recommend that. Scallops was also a good choice. Portions are small but satisfying. Review #16214

Cute and romantic spot in the marina. It's tucked away and is hard to find at first--a gem! Dishes are served tapas style so that you can share with others. Review #15745

Saw this restaurant on Check Please Bay Area on Thursday nights and I thought to myself that I just had to try this place out. Glad I did. The place was packed just like when I saw on t.v and food was wonderful. The seabass wrapped with potato was delicious and the scallop with goat cheese spread was good. For dessert, we had creme brulee which was awesome. Review #15380

I thought the food was good, lucky the waiter advise us to order at lease 8 dishes because these dishes were small but it's french style so I guess that is the way it is. Perfect area for a date. Review #15129

A stunning flop. My worst apprehensions confirmed as I saw the Celebrity Chef LEAVING in his SUV Yuppie Buggie upon my arrival. None of the food up to snuff. Legions of "South of the Border" chefs in the kitchen trying to recreate Luke's recipes without success. You might as well be dining in Tijuana. Wunderkind Luke's exquisite cooking proves you don't have to be french to master the art of french cooking, but one of my enormous pet peeves is dining out only to find the famous chef MISSING with underlings trying to recreate the recipes. Gawd-awful inedible duck, fatty, raw and watery, quel desastre. Here, at $100 bucks per person, the overly-hearty re-creations did nothing to titillate the palate. That didn't stop enormous mobs of paris-hilton wannabees from swarming the joint en masse. Try Mel's or KFC down the block instead. Warm Sister of Sappho service, however. Review #9867

This was my first use of this site to find a restaurant and I was very satisfied with my dinner last night. Thanks "Kate" (below) for the tip as I used it for a "first date" also. The back patio is a great room and was very comfortable with the heaters. Our waiter Jonathan was everything that you would want from a good waiter; attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, engaging and even mildly entertaining. Thanks Jonathan. The food was very good and 4 "dishes" (small plates that varyed in size) was the right amount of food for 2. High marks all around for food, atmosphere, and service. This is a place that I'd go back to. Review #3361

Another neighborhood with soo many choices, Isa is easily overlooked. But do give it a try. If you don't see many people in the dinning room it's because they are all out back on the year round patio. It's definitely the place be! Review #3237

I could be a little biased since this was where my boyfriend took me on our first date, but it's a wonderful restaurant. They have french tapas, and a gorgeous back patio decorated with white lights. Very romantic and awesome food. Review #3214

I'm updating my review here. I went to Isa recently for the 4th time, and I feel the quality of the food has really increased one level. They've increased their prices too, but i thought the food was more elaborate and subtle, almost Haute-Cuisine now. Ask for a table in the back-patio. tapas-style dishes at $15 a piece and worth it. Cooking is french-style with strong asian and californian influences. Review #209
