Negative Cuisine: Seafood Italian Fishermans Wharf
Until dining at Castagnola's, I thought it was impossible to combine owerwhelming and bland in the same sentence. Boy was I wrong! I had the bland lobster bisque, the 'not-as-good-as-the-one-I-bought-from-safeway-the-day-before' ceasar salad, and the colorful but relatively tasteless shrimp and scallop fettucine. My wife, on the other hand, had what could only be a pureed and pressed red snapper, as I don't even think that overcooking could result in such an extreme level of mushiness. I would advise anyone looking for seafood on the wharf to go to the Mcdonald's across the street before I would send them to Castagnola's. One more thing, I also returned my cosmopolitan as it tasted like a pink gimlet, only to learn that it was made that way. The waiter said, "Vodka, lime juice, and a splash of cranberry" is what they use to make theirs.--Nasty. Review #18068

Neutral Cuisine: Seafood Italian Fishermans Wharf
Arg, another visitor shows up! We gotta go to Fishermans Wharf..Right! This old timer has been around since Emperor Norton days, almost. We were seated without wait, but had to wait 10 minutes for the menu, No drinks, No water, just bread ok so this isn’t stellar service. We ordered two types of calamari, one fried ,one sauted, both were good, Chicken picatta was overcooked or overwarmed, the garlic sauce was great on bread, though. My veal scallopini was ok, but served a tad cold. The place was about half full, of noisy patrons most of who appeared from out of town.(really?) Prices are on the high side, but not too bad considering the quantity of food. desserts were cheap, $3 to 4 bucks and we shared something that looked like Tiramisu. The menu has too many items to do well they should cut about 50% of it and concentrate on quality a little more. Parking, sure, for 25 bucks an hour, just kidding it’s only $10. or validated parking on Mason and Jefferson st. in front of Aliotos! Review #10954
