“ I had dinner at Chenery Park with a group of 6 and we were all impressed by the food and our experience generally. Entrees averaged around $20 and they had a wide variety of entrees to choose from. I had a great New York strip with fries. The steak could have been cooked a little less (I had ordered medium rare and it wasn't that) but it was a great cut and the fries were prepared and seasoned perfectly. Their pumpkin bundt cake served with pumpkin gellato was amazing as was another dessert we had with espresso, ice cream and cookies. The staff was attentive and professional and they had a decent and reasonably priced wine list. They also had two great beers on tap in addition to the handful of standard bottled beers one would expect to find at most restaurants. The one downside was that it took them 10 minutes to seat us after the time our reservation was made for and there's really no place to wait except outside (and it was cold). I'd definitely go back. ”

“ Chenery Park is the only attractive restaurant in my neighborhood, but somehow I had never gotten around to eating here until tonight. I realize I haven't been missing anything. It's very attractive, simple and sort of stylish without being full of itself and the service seems friendly and competent, but everything we had (and there was five of us so we pretty much covered the menu) was bland, like something you'd get in a nice hospital. It wasn't actively bad, but for the money, we could have gone to Range or for a third of the cost just gone around the corner to La Corneta, both of which are head and shoulders better. The red haired woman running the front desk was charming, but that's just not enough to make up for blah food. ”

“ this is a tough neighborhood for food and seems to be on the edge of some sort of transition and hopefully many of the crappy restaurants around this block will raise the tone. Chenery Park is nice, and a great addition to this neighborhood, glad it has survived this long. solid american food reflective of the late 90's comfort...ok wine list good service...parking is a bitch...

“ When our waiter set down our appetizer plates, mine had some dirt (or something black and granular) on it. We both saw it at the same time, and he proceeded to smudge it off with his thumb. Then I kind of laughed, because I thought he was joking and was going to give me a new plate, then he walked away. I should have asked for a new plate, but I was so shocked that I didn't say anything. Also they fill up wine glasses about 1/4 of the way, which is pretty skimpy for a $9 glass of mediocre wine. The food was good, though the "crab beignets" were really just crab cakes. If the menu had read "crab cakes" we wouldn't have ordered them. My gumbo was fine, but who charges that much for a bowl of gumbo?? My husband ordered the lamb which was very tasty. ”

“ what a pleasant surprise. i have been to chenery park about 6-7 times since it opened. during the first week of september 2006, i had the chance to visit it again with a friend when we could not get into another restaurant. chenery park was crowded but we were able to be seated quickly--being sat next to a table of 4 loud bears, when the couple who was previously there asked to be reseated. fortunately, we came to "visit" and eat so the gayety from the next table was not a problem.
but let's talk about the food and service--top rate. our server was smooth, efficient, friendly, creative and handled my food peculiarities with grace. the food itself was tasty, perfectly cooked vegetables. the server helped nudge us into a tasty bottle of wine. and it was all finished with a satisfying dessert. ”

“ Definitely one of the best! On special occasions, weekend dinners, or any night when you don't feel like cooking -- the food is consistently delicious, the service is always friendly, and the atmosphere is as comfortable and welcoming as your favorite sweater on a cool Glen Park evening.

“ Other than the parking problem - this is a great, comfortable, casual place with excellent food and service. The specials are just that and the food ranges from American standards to interesting variations using seasonal ingredients. Menu changes regularly. ”

“ I have been here many times and have had just about everything on the menu. Occasionally, they will have a good cheese plate. The romaine salad, kind of like ceasar, is very good. Good macaroni and cheese without the yellow powder. Good meat loaf, usually the special on Tuesdays, which is family night, so there may be children about, but not a problem for me. Good steak! Good neighborhood feel, but somewhat Ikea-like. I have never been disappointed. ”

“ One of my favorite neighborhood places! Only had one disappointment here and it was minor. Have eaten here at least 10 times, so cannot complain about that one time. The food is always tasty with ample portions but not overwhelming. The staff is perpetually cheerful and makes dining here fun. Noise level is somewhat high but tolerable. Parking? Not too bad actually, and the restaurant is only about two blocks from the Glen Park Bart station in a very interesting neighborhood. ”

“ Liked this place. Atmosphere - spread out - did not feel like you were on top of other tables. Multiple levels - very nice. Wait staff was good - little slow on keeping the water glasses full, but otherwise no complaints. Food was good and I thought it was reasonably priced. Place is kid friendly and runs a kids night on Tuesdays - have not been there on a Tuesday so I am not sure how crazy it is, but be aware that it is kids night. ”

“ I will consistantly love this place for their gingerbread and pumpkin ice cream dessert. But the wait staff are fun (if spread a little thin when the place is busy) and the entrees are good. Not inexpensive but off the beaten track and attractive. ”

“ For first impressions this place has it, with its beautiful multi-leveled design and plenty of florals and other eye catching elements. I'm sure it's popular with the local Glen-parkers, but for me - not so much. Service was a bit scattered and the food only mediocre. I tried the special, Sauteed Crab Cakes with Pea Sprouts, which I liked, but I also tried my friends dish and there wasn't anything overly interesting about it.

“ This place didn't live up to the hype that other reviewers have bestowed on it. The staff was friendly, but the service could have been better. For example, I had to ask to have a refill of my ice tea. We weren't served bread until 15 minutes after we had already sat down at the table. The food is only a tad better than average. I probably won't go back. ”

“ one of my consistent fave raves. have date dined and partied of eight - attractive staff knowledgeable, attentive, fun and unflappable. something for everyone i could dine with my steak and potatoes dad, my fine palette mother and experimental friends all in one wonderful dining experience. if you are not child friendly, avoid tuesday nights. over the past few years, i think i have tried just about everything without disappointment. would list some of the fab taste treats, but I would go on and on

“ This is a cool place to hit to get out of the regular groove. It's pretty standard bistro fair, but they do it very well and the staff serves it with aplomb. Never had a bad meal here. ”
