“
Following an unfortunate reception and seating experience, we had a great meal! Got there just when they opened. Got seated at a table where two little children were expected. (no one else in the restaurant at that time) We like children but not when making a ruckus while we wanted to eat and visit. Headwaiter (owner?) moved us to other end of restaurant. Sat down, then he said no, we would have to move. We got up, then he decided we could sit there after all! I had delicious stuffed calamari, then a pasta dish with scallops (2), shrimp (1) and lots of clams in a wonderful broth. Dense chocolate cake for dessert. Yum! My friends had veal saltimbocca, pork tenderloin and lamb chops. They each said "delicious". Wonderful breads. I have been here several times and they have definitely upgraded. Other than the seating problem, we had a great evening. ”

“ Bacco's food is always very consistent. Top dishes: burrata, gnocchi with fontina & truffle oil and tagliata. Unfortunately they raised their prices and not just a $ for each antipasto, pastas and entrees but several $$$. 14$ for a small burrata? 18$ for gnocchi ? sorry guys but this is not a high end restaurant. I might consider go back next time. Too bad because Bacco was my consistent authentic, affordable italian restaurant.
Positive: food,ambiance,service - Negative: $$$, parking,noise

“ Well crafted italian food in an elegant but relaxed environment. What could be bad? We were there for a large birthday party, so were limited to a pre-fixe, but it was great. Started with a nice mixed greens, then shared a fantastic steak with balsamic reduction, and a breaded chicken breast stuffed with fontina, speck ham and some lovely mushrooms. I would eat both choices again, but next time I go I want to save room for their famous risotto (which changes daily and is supposedly the city's best). Really nice tiramisu and chocolate hazelnut cake capped the meal. There was great red wine throughout as well. ”

“ By far not the best meal I've ever had. For italian food, the flavors were surprisingly mild...not unpleasant, just slightly bland. I think my palate is a bit unsophisticated, and I've decided that is the reason I didn't fall over in love with my dinner. I ordered the petrale sole and the beet salad. The salad was not great, although the beets were sweet. The sole was too salty for my taste. It just wasn't the italian meal I was looking for. However, the service was great and the cause was awesome...25% of the bill donated to the Aids Emergency Fund and the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. You can't go wrong with that. It made the meal taste that much sweeter! ”

“ Overall, OK, tagline should be "Expect the Expected", but it was here that the question was raised, "Does good bread= good food?". Bread was good, "off the hook" according to ML. Menu: Taglione w/ rockshrimp, mushrooms, arugala w/ glass of grigio. Rigtatoni w /sausage, peppers, tomato sauce w/ glass of San Giovese. Basic classics= done.
Word o' the night: " CUSP"
Check Countdown: 8:32= asked, 8:39= and you shall receive.
Note: NOT thrilled by the dessert, Tortino, mmmmmm not so much. ”

“ Good, not great
I thought that having a Chronicle Top 100 restaurant just down the street would be a godsend. Instead, it's frustrating because I see the potential in the restaurant but just have not warmed up to it. The entire restaurant has a some what diffident spirit. No warm welcome that should be accorded a regular (which I used to be), no easy laugh. Just solid if somewhat traditional italian food. For a neighborhood restaurant, it's just not neighborhoody enough. Still if you are searching for one of SF's best Risotto's, you need to try Bacco's at least once. Otherwise, there's better options in Noe. ”

“ My first visit to Noe Valley. The food was delicious and the setting is so cozy. It has neighborhood feel to it. It can give italian Restaurant in North Beach a serious run for its money. ”

“ This is my favorite italian restaurant in SF. Low key, neighborhood setting, but delicious pastas and incredible daily risotto - worth every penny! Some versions have included: taleggio and pear, goat cheese and beet, wild mushroom, chicken with arugula and tomato, seafood, etc. The pastas, risotto, mains and desserts are all great. Good wine list and friendly staff. Paolo, the owner is very warm and the staff have been there for years. A real treat! ”
