Top notch french Bistro on the town square of Sonoma. The art work depicting voluptuous women, vegetables and landscapes by Julie Higgins sets the culinary stage for something “of the earth” and natural yet maybe a little mystical. Farm fresh produce that tasted like it was picked that morning. I had the special salad of greens, mild chilies loaded with antioxidants topped with savory pork belly. The mussels were good but not the best I've had. The matchstick frites were very good, in my top three. The service was thoughtful and knowledgeable. I enjoyed my visit and would go back in a heartbeat. Enjoy! Review #21235

After reading the other reviews, Angie wanted to try “the girl & the fig”. I enjoyed the Alaskan halibut, with trumpet royal mushrooms & Fried sage “photos below”. The mushrooms were a new experience, I like the texture and I'll have to start ordering them more often to have an opinion. My chunk of halibut was definitly tasty, however I think I'll ask if its “chunk or a slice” next time, because on a slice you can get an even cooking, the chunks have the seared edge. The building is cool if you're into early 20th century architecture. It seems the interiors panels are original wood that has never been painted over you don't see that too often. Service and atmosphere were top quality and you can tell they love what they do. Lunch for two $90. Review #21220

11-4-2008 Update: My 1st review in April 2007 was my 1st meal here. I moved to Sonoma Wine country July 2007. I have since eaten here more than 20 times. Girl & the Fig is my 2nd favorite restaurant in Northern CA. I'm a sucker for french style Bistro food. Underwood Bar and Grill in Graton (West Sonoma County) is my absolute favorite restaurant, this place is right up there. All ingredients here are locally procured. Everything is fresh. Preparation is always top notch. There are very few french style bistros in SF that can make food this good. I've been to Paris 13 times since 1973, there are very few bistros there that are as good as The Girl & the Fig. Prices here are MUCH lower than city prices. I've recommended this restaurant to 50 people over the past year. Every single person raved about how much they enjoyed the meal and the setting. If you are in Sonoma for one day only, this is THE restaurant you want to enjoy. Review #19430

The Girl and the Fig is a rock solid choice in downtown Sonoma. They have kick a** bloody marys with a excellent serving staff in a comfortable setting. Many great little apps, salads, and entrees. They have a solid wine list to pair with your snacks before resuming your winery adventures. Definitely worth checking out. Review #13337

Absolutely outstanding. It's managed to meld old Sonoma with the best of what has made the area one of the world's great destinations. Everything we had was fantastic. A must-go place. Review #13192

I've eaten here a couple times and the food has always been stellar. Fairly resonable prices for the area, great service! Nice salads and small apps...which wines to pair. Defiently worth the stop! 2 forks up Review #12844
