“ I love Asqew! The portions are huge and reasonably priced. For some reason I'm not so turned on by the meat that's on the menu, but i do love all the vegetable sides. since i just stuff my face with yummy veggies i let myself have a rootbeer float. I always leave very satisfied and happy.

Skwers of meat chicken vegtables tofu with a sald or starch...what agreat concept. Buy a glass of wine and one is set....The one negative is that it's busy most of the time!!!!!....but at least the crowd is socail and friendly while one is waitiong....speaking of one.....a grerat place to eats by oneself....no need to feel self conscience...the staff is friendly and appropiate.....this is a very casual place and reasonable!

“ the prices have gone up in the past year so i don't think this is considered a good cheap eats anymore. however, the food is really great, especially the herb salmon with garlic mashers. i also recommend the berry quencher although it can be a on the sweet side. service is usually very good but the last time i went, one of the staff was being particulary rude and shouted a people who sat themselves down before ordering.

“ Healthy, fast, tasty and moderately priced. Its a nice alternative on the Haight and very good for people concerned with carbs, as you are welcome to substitute a salad for your choice of starch. One suggestion would be to be able to choose two different skewers when ordering a regular meal, i.e. one chicken, one fish. It would be a nice touch and add to the variety of the meal. ”

“ Relatively inexpensive, fresh, grilled food. At Asqew, you order a skewer from the list, which might be vegetables only, seafood and veg, or meat and veg. The range of options is pretty broad.
Then you order a base, such as salad, mashed potatoes, jasmine rice, polenta. The skewers are served atop your base, and sides are available.
Try the BBQ chicken if only for the BBQ corn that comes with it (or just order a side of BBQ corn), and though the corn is typically overcooked, the sauce is great.
Shrimp are good, but again, sometimes overdone. Swordfish, a strong grilling fish, works well with salad or jasmine rice. Mashed potatoes are heavy and buttery, and go great with almost any skewer. Free refills for soda. Beer and wine available. Often crowded, but that's the Haight for you. ”

“ This place is very popular and always crowded. It's no wonder since the food is ok and the prices are reasonable. I love the grilled meats and their selection of starches were far from boring. You should try it. After a stretch of shopping around Haight, this is a recommended stop. I love anything on a stick, though. ”

“ Pretty tasty, but adding sides can make a quick lunch a bit expensive. And grilling does not turn EVERYTHING to gold. Charred corn just tastes burnt if the corn isn't fresh and sweet. But the meat is good and tender, and the mashed potatoes were yummy. ”

“ Small place, pleasant staff, great open windows for true people watching. My son and I stopped in so he could get "meat on a stick". You choose a meat/veggie combination (chicken with thai sauce, salmon, marinated tofu, etc.) and that entree is shiskabobbed with veggies. Then you order a starch (garlic mashed potatoes were very good, rice looked white and fluffy, the grilled polenta looked deliCIOUS) or a salad. The staff hollers your name and brings it over. They will accomodate the odd sub (put this sauce on that skewer?) and were very nice when my kid spilled his entire "Very Berry Float." They have a small but decent selection of wines and beers. And I can't wait to try their salads. The grilled pear looked good and I think the beet salad will be great. ”

“ Great place to get a quick bite. You can order dishes in two portions. There's half-orders and full-orders, which is pretty convenient if you're getting lunch with friends and you aren't that hungry. My favorite dish is their Ahi skewers. ”

“ i really enjoy this place. i think the food is quite tasty. it's kind of expensive for what you get (2 skewers and some sides for $9-10 if you want a full plate). i like how flexible you can be with choosing your side dish, you can basically mix and match what you want. the meat almost always come out dry (their fish, chicken, and lamb especially), but i think their sauces make it taste good. i like how the workers are in those blue coveralls. ”

“ Fun, quick, and fairly economical. This is an ideal place to get a quick bite. I had ahi tuna with red onions on skewers, and grilled pear salad. In general, my food was tasty with proper and sufficient seasoning; however, the ahi was not consistently grilled--some pieces were over cooked, and parts of the pear was over grilled to a char.(Maybe that's expecting too much out of an quick bite eatery.)Overall, most items on the menu are still very good and I'd go back. ”

“ I love this place. Very simple skewer-based cuisine with a twist. I love the mushroom/veggie skewer with polenta. Also serve various meats with all sorts of different rice, cous cous, etc. Not a place where you can have a quiet conversation or linger over dinner, but excellent for a quick (but not rushed) dinner. Post-script: I just ate there and they didn't grill anything long enough. The corn was still frozen, yuck. First bad experience though. ”
