“
What can I say...I'm a hugh fan of this Cole Valley dining spot. the asian-fusion food is excellent and the presentation is incredible. I always start off with the cesar salad and a glass of merlot. The Shi-itake Mushroom Dumplings are awesome and the Seared Rare Ahi Tuna Tower is to die for! So what do I like...the wine selection is great! They have over 150 plus selections. I perfer to dine in the wine bar next door as it's a bit more intimate. I think everyone should try this place at least once, even if its just for desert.

“
Due to most people's recommendations, we went straight to the wine bar. We had a nice high table right in the window- a great place to people watch. We each started with a wine flight- it's a wine bar, so you gotta try the flights, right? I got three tastes, he got 4- it was great to taste all the different wines and decide on our favorites.
For dinner we ordered three small plates- a crostini with goat cheese and roasted tomato- TO DIE FOR! Mussels with sausage- very good, the only thing we didn't like is the mint mixed in- neither of us are huge fans. The last thing we got were the ahi spring rolls- which were SO GOOD!! I could not believe it! For dessert, we shared a champagne flight and the chocolate lava cake- so decadent- I don't even care how many calories it had in it- I would eat 5 more!! This place impressed us very much- we came hungry and left full (and a little tipsy) without having to empty our wallets or order 8 plates... ”

“ EOS is like the sweet, down-to-earth sister to the high-maintenance, slightly snotty Bacar. The wine list is certaintly no comparision to Bacar's, but it's still pretty interesting. The food though, is what won me over. The lobster bisque is the best I've had anywhere. The ahi tower was perfect: soft disk of rare ahi on crispy disks of wonton skin with perfectly seasoned mayo. I wasn't wowed by the shi-itake dumpling, and that could be because I expected them to knock my socks off. The chicken and beef dishes were also very good, even if they aren't the most exciting. And the bananamisu dessert is wonderful, with a whole caramelized banana and a huge chunk of the dessert in a plate full of chocolate sauce. Great service as well.

“ Woooo...snob-by. I don't mean that in an overly hostile way, but I don't need help feeling like a geek, dweeb, spaz, dork or nerd when I'm eating fabulous and expensive food.
Other than the amazing attitude, the food was very, very good. I won't be frequenting here, though. Too busy, too expensive and too "ooh-la-la" for me. ”

“ I recommend the bar if you're on a date with someone you know and like. If all goes well and you then need to impress the in-laws, take them next door to the main dining room. The food is amazing. Every single dish I've tried has been good. Pricey but good. They're part of this Alice in Wonderland phenomenon that's mushroomed lately: on the one hand you get a small plate, on the other you get a tall bill. All well worth it however. If you go, take chances on the unknown! Try the salt cod. (I thought that stuff was for Columbus and the likes of lost sailors). Well it was delicious. And their wine list alone is worth the trip. Eos is one of the few places in town that has a Pinotage on their menu, and their knowledgeable staff is very helpful. I'm a fan.

“ They must have gotten new wine glasses, because our wine was served in glasses that were above average for a restaurant even of this caliber. In my opinion the wine list is outstanding. It's not so heavy on the California wines which is a nice change of pace. Our party of five had a great meal. Oysters were fresh, the squash soup was reported to be delicious. Madras Chicken was very solid. Hangar steak was really good. The sauce that it and the fingerling potatoes rested on was zesty and spicy. Long beans are a must order. The deserts were fantastic. I atypically ordered a crisp with apples and out of season berries. They some how managed to find good berries in January (even though I am usually against that sort of thing). The gelato on top was house made and perfect. Others ordered the spice cake and reported to be delicious. To top it all off, the bill was fairly painless and the service was friendly and effecient. This place will become a regular choice. ”

“ When I used to live nearby I was looking for a good place for a great glass of wine. I wanted an alternative to the bars...but didn't find one. There's a "bar" to sit at for drinks and appetizers, but the staff seems uncomfortable when you actually sit here. Additionally, the wine selection is truly disappointing--and using the fact that some wines are organic isn't an excuse for cheap-tasting wine. Lastly, I *am* a wine snob. If I'm paying $14 for a glass of wine, give it to me in a proper wine glass. No cheap fifty-cents at the flea market glasses. The glass I got for free at my high-school prom was better quality, with a smaller lip. Not being excited by the wine at this wine bar, I didn't bother with the food. ”

“ Food was pretty good, probably a 7 or 8 out of 10. We tried two sets of wine flutes but only liked one of the three in each. I would recommend buying wine by the glass instead. We ate in the bar and both the service and atmosphere were great. It is pricy but overall worth it. I'd go again sometime for sure. ”

“ Fortunately, the wine flights were very well selected, and the waiter knew enough about both the wine and the food to make informed suggestions that made for an excellent experience, despite the shoe horned seating. If I can bite a fellow patron on the a** as they shinny between our tables to sit, then we are sitting at a two-top in name only. If we were all chickens, and those two-tops were the back of a truck, you would have peta all up in your kitchen, so to speak... ”

“ Giving a positive review since the food was excellent across the board from apps to entrees, but I was very disappointed in the wine. Eos bills itself as a wine bar, but I was very disappointed with the wine offerings. We tried several flights and several glasses, and the wine did not do the food justice...luckily, the food and staff made it an excellent dining experience. ”

“ Presentation is tops...
First word of advice - eat at the wine bar... The restaurant lacks in atmosphere what they add in character to the stylishly presented dishes. The winebar serves the same food in a much more relaxed atmosphere. The food is expensive, true, but it's top flight with an intreesting array of flavors. From the first course to the last, you can be assured it will be a delight. I loved the lamb, tuna tower, and even the ceasar was among the best in the city. The tea brulee served in an exotic ceramic dish was the final topper to a great meal. A good place to celebrate something! ”

“ This is THE BEST asian fusion in the city. Everything on the menu is great, fresh, well prepared. Go with lots of friends so you can just order everything and eat family style. Incredible wine list and a very helpful, knowledgable unsnooty staff that will help you with your pairings. I think this is a diamond in the rough. Not that talked about and much better than all of the other fusion joints in the city. ”

“ Some day I hope that the austerely underdurnished style will go out of fashion in restaurant design. The result might be room in which every voice doesn't echo and you can actually hear your dining partner. Nevertheless, EOS has a nice wine list and interesting food - a crowded lunch spot. ”

“ The crispy noodle cake and mushroom dumplings are the reasons I return to EOS (or the Wine Bar) as often as possible. The menu changes fairly often, another reason to go back, but my two favs are always there. The braised brussel sprouts are good but are cooked in too much oil. Papaya Salad could be great if you can avoid tasting the fish sauce. ”

“ It's been awhile since I ate a full dinner here, though i know i enjoyed my whole meal. All i remember is the Chocolate Tower. if you've got any room, order/share dessert. As for the wine bar, we had a delectable tuna roll (a la spring roll with near raw tuna inside) that was delicious. I agree with the recent reviewer that the wine selection was mediocre. Out of our three wine flight, I only liked with one. ”

“ Very good food and a wonderful wine selection. Parking is a disaster (but it's right on the N-line) and it ain't cheap. It's also pretty noisy as the interior is hard surfaced and modern. The last time I went, I certainly wasn't impressed by the friendliness of the bar staff where we were sitting. ”
