Chocolaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttt I love it....My friend Bibby from PartiesThatCook.com took me here, and she was correct in saying they're fantastic. I had a chocolate mocha, something, something. Sorry I did not catch the name but it was totally fantastic. I can see why they are addictive; I think this could knock Starbucks out of business if they ever decide to roll out nationwide. Lovely chocolate joint. Many varieties of hot chocolate, which is more of the european style (think cup of actual melted chocolate, thinned out slightly with warm frothy milk). The spicy version is my favorite, has a nice cinnamon chile kick (maybe kicks too hard for some, but not for me). Brownie bites are deep, homemade marshmallows are sweet and doughy, but their cinnamon chocolate cake is worth the whole trip. I found that a piece of cake and a cup of hot chocolate just blew my pallette and didn't allow me to enjoy either to its full extent, so I suggest the cake with a glass of milk, or a cup of hot chocolate all by its lonesome. Place itself is cute, staffed by toocoolforschool young hipsters, and other than the fresh goods, sells overpriced high end choco bars and cookbooks. Review #18267

I truly believe this place is the sweat and passion of a few good souls. The co-owner Seneca Klassen has been featured on Eye on the Bay as well as countless other foodie shows. The man knows a lot about chocolate even the fact that sperm whale is used for some higher end varietals. I have been to two tastings so far and have learned more about chocolate than I can handle. Try their pear/corn muffins or homemade marshmallows. Bar recommendations: Vosages Haute Chocolate-Fire Bar, Michel ___ 55% milk chocolate, earl grey infused tea or orange peel w/ dark minis, Hatez white bar. Review #17229

woah woah woah woah. the spicy hot chocolate was amazing. it was possibly the best thing i've ever sipped in my entire life. yes, it was spicy, in a wonderful way. i was totally buzzed from the spicy/sweet/caffeine. i thought it was a little expensive at first ($3-something), but i would have paid the same for 1/4 as much. i will go back to this place many many times. Here's a quick list of things I've tried from Bittersweet: brownie bite, spicy hot chocolate, truffle, bar chocolate. First, the brownie bite was delectable. It's a tall block covered in smooth rich chocolate ($1.75). Inside, the brownie is fairly dense, but not like Angelina's. Spicy hot chocolate, which I tried due to a magazine review in either 7x7 or San Francisco, kicked me in the back of the throat with a little too much black pepper. The sweet, peppery, hot combo is amazing, balanced with hints of rose -- but too much black pepper. I only drank about half (OK, two-thirds) of one 8 oz. cup. Truffles are dark and creamy like cold butter. As for the bar chocolates, there's some stuff you can get cheaper at Trader Joe's, like Villar's. Fog City on Market has just as good a selection of european chocolates, but Bittersweet carries more Latin and south american brands. Check out Bitter's web site -- they offer chocolate tasting events or private choco-tastings for $30 a head. Review #14530
