I came during Dine About Town, $35 for a 3-course prix fixe. The rock shrimp lumpia with avocado and ponzu dipping sauce was excellent. As for the entrees, the halibut with shiso was nicely cooked as was the hangar steak. I love their chimichurri dipping sauce (cilantro, garlic and olive oil) with bread. The waiter even waived our corkage if we ordered a bottle, asked if we could get the same deal if we ordered port with our dessert and he delightfully obliged, so that was a plus! Corkage is $20. They need some advice! Lunch on a Monday afternoon. Beautiful restaurant!. Cold reception from the guy at the desk until a nice lady showed up and helped us. First course was duck buns which were delicious but waaaay too salty. Next I had the "Tuna Melt". Tuna mixed in a creamy sauce and on top of a brioche type of bread. Lukewarm when it reached our table. Tasty but very rich and waaaaaaaaay too salty. (They must own stock in a salt company) The brioche bread was tough and I could not cut it with a knife. I could not eat all of it as it was so rich and salty. dessert was gelato which was very tasty. Lay off the salt, guys! I'll go back though and try it again as it is a very pleasant setting and will try to order more wisely. Review #20773

Wonderful "shared plates" restaurant. Everything I've had there is excellent, and unique. The wine list and flights are fun and you're bound to try something new. The setting in the Presidio is awesome and the windows overlook a gorgeous view. It's fun to go when they have live music (I think Thursdays only). Heard it's also great for lunch. I would suggest going with no more than 4 people or it gets a bit expensive. Review #20149

First off..the food is great!! Really good flavor and presentation. Went for my bday and very impressed with the food. The ambiance was ok..the table was super small and trying to fit small plates all over the table with wine and everything was a challenge but the service was good enough to keep up and deliver..good cheese plate and port selection as well..I give 4 of 5 stars.. Beautiful restaurant with gorgeous views. I loved the curved wooden beams on ceiling along the bar seating area. We were there for the wine and some side dishes. The wine flights were nice. The sides we had were not memorable. Review #19841

5/07 Sat lunch. Pres a Vi is a global fusion/wine bar restaurant, obscurely located in G. Lucas' “campus”. Its huge interior, modern decor and green outdoors are impressive. The specialty c***tails ($10) have depth and dimension, not just juice & alcohol. Zensation is best (pear vodka, green tea liqueur, pineapple, lime), Jasmine Blossom and Tequila Fresas are unique. The bread basket had assorted rolls and fried butter crackers (can I buy a case?) My fish & chips had panko crusted salmon and halibut, served with soy and tartar sauces ($9). The fish was fresh, flaky and tasty. Her fish tacos were the winner ($9). Medium done mahi-mahi placed on 3 small soft tacos with diced tomatoes, onions & lettuce. Seasoning was just right. Niece had Kobe beef & bacon burger with shoe string fries ($10). She was busy chowing down, must be good! desserts were awesome too ($8). Polenta cake (soft, moist and flavorful), chocolate truffle purse (filled with molten lava). Nice service. What a gem! 4* Review #19397

Being invited to this new dive I had a little trouble finding the place and arrived about 10 minutes late. Wow, did I get in trouble with the maitre D', rude and unfriendly didn't get us off to a great start here!. Seated we had to wait for the waiter to “present” the wine list, as it's que'd with pairing of plates. Crap! Another condescending restaurant! Our “small plates” which are actually plates in various geometric forms arriving with minuscule, overly priced servings of food, arriving after about a 20 minute wait. We started with some hamachi topped with a citrus oil overpowering any delicate taste of the fish).(off taste) The next plate was Calamari cooked ok, but were served pretty greasy with some capers. The prawns were a big disappointment being overcooked, making them tough and masked with too much soy sauce! The lamb chops and mahi mahi plates were the only ones I would consider a decent value and tasty. Been here, done that, don't think I will ret Review #19286

Well, all in all, I'd have to say, Pres A Vi is a winner! Beautifully designed space and ambiance (more atmosphere at night, due to lighting), very good service, and darn tasty food! Hey! How can you go wrong?! It was hard to choose, so many items on the menu looked good, but our wait staff made some helpful recommendations. My dining partner and I started with the Bubblicious flight and two out of three champagnes were very good--light and subtle. The Cream of Asparagus soup "shot" with proscuitto chips was also tasty and just right. Although, I have to confess that I was tickled by the idea that we, as a culture, or so pressed for time, that we must "shoot" our soup! I then moved on to the duck buns. "Yum-mee!" is all I have to say. Four tasty little "burgers" with a soft, doughy bun and a tiny sprinkle of sesame seeds, just the way I like it! As a Jewish woman, I admit that the notion of "small plates" had me nervous from the get-go! But I was completely satiated! Review #18928

I had a very lovely dinner at Pres a Vi the other night. I thought the decor and the low lighting really added to the experience and I found the Sommelier to be very knowledgeable and helpful. We started off in the bar and the bartender made us a few fun martini's. We then moved to the wine cellar and the sommelier open our bottle of wine and decanted it for us. We got to hang out there a few minutes while we waited for out table. For food, we had the Duck Buns...yummy! Then we had the scallops..pretty standard. Followed by the Filet Mignon...very good! A fried firecracker shrimp dish...good. And a side of these potato wedges..good, but a bit dry. For dessert we had a nice plate of cheese and another bottle of wine. My only complaint was the hostess guy, I found him to be annoying. I also think they need to work on the timing of the dishes. I hope that the next time I come here, things will be just perfect! They are also going to be opening a huge patio in the summer. Review #18819

The interior is beautiful with the fabrics, unique ceiling and somewhat rustic decor. The staff is not terribly knowledgeable and they tend to "fake it" by placing claims on their dishes such as "This is the best Tuna Tartare in San Francisco!" um, according to whom? Have you been here? There? Ah, no...righhhhtt...So, tried it anyway, it was pretty good. Came with some taro chips and the tuna was fresh and perfectly seasoned. Had the lamb burger which was so-so. Bun was too big, lamb was not a point (medium rare) as I asked, but rather medium to well. Not enough spices such as sumac or coriander and so it was somewhat bland. The potatoes it came with were way underdone. We had the flights of wine which was fun and a good value. It needs work on service, hostess staff could be better (that's another story) and perhaps be braver on your ingredients. Oh, and staff, please don't presume that your patrons are tourists because chances are they are not. Review #18801

I can only speak for the desserts as that's all I had. The chocolate truffle purse is divine. Rich chocolate encased in a light filo wrapper paired with cassis couli and ice cream. Worth the trip. The atmosphere is a mix of casual and upscale; the decor is beautifully appointed with nice touches. A large group table with a view of the kitchen would make it easy to dine alone. The outdoor area should be open soon. Review #18701

Nestled in the middle of office buildings, it's not a likely spot for wanderers to find this place. The atmosphere is very marina. The food was awesome. Try the following and you won't be disappointed: soy-maple glazed black cod, chili glazed chicken wings, cherry brown butter tart, chocolate truffle purse, mashed potatoes, and kobe beef tenderloin ‘petite filet'. All were so so delicious. Review #18338

Beautiful views, comfortable decor, fresh ingredients, thoughtful presentation, and a fun but overpriced small-plate menu. I probably won't be back for a full meal, although middle-aged diners seemed very pleased. Perhaps menu was created for those who do not have access to asian flavors. DO's: bread and cracker basket with taraggon olive oil and smoked sea salt butter (Free), Tea Sorbets with Warm Guava Soup ($8). DONT's: Kobe Beef-Bacon Cheese Burger ($9), I completely forgot I was eating Kobe beef, tasted like any burger; Beef Tenderloin Wraps ($11) consisted of three small lettuce cups each with shredded papaya and two small slithers of beef, admittedly this was tasty and easy to share, but you only get three bites for $11; Duck Confit Lumpia ($9) literally four flat bites. The Tuna Nicoise salad was nice but seems out of place on a menu that tries to veer from classics. I might be back for the wine bar and desserts. Review #18061
