I've been to Yoshi's Oakland restaurant & music hall 6,000 times, I'm considered human furniture there. Tonight was our 1st San Francisco Yoshi's experience. The modern chic open restaurant is very impressive looking. We did not order sushi. We grazed on the european w/asian influence dishes. Overall the food was good. The food here is much better than the Oakland Yoshi's. Bambie loved the shizo sautee black cod. The portion was ridiculously tiny. The thick flavorful miso soup, non-greasy vegetable tempura, perfectly roasted chicken, desserts, & wine were all quite tasty. We spent a pleasant 90 minutes at the table, service was friendly but not quite competent. I paid $200 for dinner. Due to the small portions I walked away still a bit hungry, so I felt ripped-off just like the 2 negative reviewers. But this is a food review - The food is fine, it's the prices that suck! If you are wealthy & like fancy food in a large ultra-modern space, you will love this Yoshi's. Review #20872

Before you go to Yoshi’s stop and get an IN-N-OUT burger. The cost is about $100 per person. The food is mediocre to OK. The plates are big and the food is elf size. Filet mignon, 4oz is. $48. Sashimi Sanban plate is $50. There is not enough fish here to make 1/3 of a Maki “roll”. Ice cream or sorbet is the size of a jaw breaker. There is a Key Lime Mochi Cake that could be covered with the slice of a lime. They have glazed apples that are match stick size. Every time food comes out to the table, you will have a good laugh. The ambiance is great and the bar scene is happening. However, this is a restaurant review website and not Interior Designer or Architectural Digest. The sushi was not good. Meaning it was fresh, but the pieces were super small and thin and the tuna was stringy/fatty. It was not the normal sashimi that you get at a sushi restaurant. It had the white lines in it and it was tough to chew. I got six small pieces that were about 2 cm thick, 2" long, and 1" wide. No spicy vietnamese chili sauce to go in the Ponzu sauce. Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS/CHANGES/SUBSTITUTIONS allowed at this venue. You cannot order rolls without rice. They do not have soy bean paper. The 6 pieces of sushi were $10 I think and it was probably the same amount of sushi that is in 2 pieces of Nigri sushi. The jazz club is great, it's convenient, good wine list, but the food, ah, next time I'll pass.....total rip off and not good. Review #20836
