“ The usual Gordon Biersch food: Garlic fries, southwestern Egg roll, etc. The beer is pretty good especially their Marzen or Hefeweizen with a slice of lemon. Yummy. Huge points for the location which is great with an awesome patio. Perfect for outside sitting on a sunny day with gorgeous view of the ocean and Bay Bridge. ”

“ Nice vibe. the atmosphere is chill and if the weather permits, you can sit outside and enjoy a nice view of the bay bridge. I had a marzen barbeque chicken burger w/ garlic fries and it was wonderful. the garlic fries are really really good :D ”

“ I been here quite often. The food is here good, the garlic fries is perhaps the best side order. The view upstairs is nice, a view of the Bay Bridge. The place is usually very noisy so don't go there if you want to go to a quiet place. ”

“ I brought 2 work associates here for a post-deal closer beer & snack BS session. The beer is good, better than the same brews in bottles for sale at the Safeway - Duh! The brew pub food is mediocre as stated by many reviewers below. We were here on a quiet early afternoon before the post-work crowd arrived, so we got attentive service and fast food delivery. I would not consider coming here when it is packed with people on sunny week-ends or Friday after work. The food doesn't warrant a long wait. Nice view of the Bay Bridge underside if you're into architecture - structural engineering. ”

“ If you're looking for a brewery with brewery-type food, you've found it. If you're looking for a reasonably priced, good-tasting meal, go elsewhere. It is what it is, a brewpub, so I can't really knock it. The garlic fries are good, the mahi sandwich was very bland and unimpressive. The service was efficient; we had a large party, which can be challenging, but all of the food and drinks came out at the same time. So timely service, but lacking personality. Our server clearly wasn't expecting us to tip over the 18% auto-grat and acted accordingly. I would go back if someone else suggested it, but would never suggest it myself. ”

“ Came here with a group of friends and i had fun. Not so much of good food, definitely not a romantic spot (for dates) but perfect place when you come with bunch of friends or you are abt to throw an event involving big group of people.

“ Service was what you would expect from someone who was hired for appearance and not service skills. Fries were undercooked. Burgers were very good. After watching the fat drippings re-coagulate on my plate during the 20 minutes it took to get the plates cleared, it was pretty easy to see why. ”

“ A warm friendly place out of the rain was all that we were looking for one night as we stumbled upon this brewery/pub. Our order consisted of a couple pints of beer (very good) and appetizers. The food and service was nothing to rave about ... the garlic fries came to us lukewarm, and the flat bread sampler was also okay. The portions were fairly large so we didn't leave hungry, but the price also reflects this. Overall it was an average experience and would go again to give it another chance. ”

“ "pub food"...that says it all. You cannot expect some culinary marvel from a pub/bar/tavern whatever you want to call it. It is what it is...pub food. However, the beer is good, the company is good, the patio is good...so go for that, not the food. Oh, and don't go for the service either. Those hostesses have 'tudes like no tomorrow. ”

“ It was about halfway through the meal that I figured out why this place was so mediocre. IT’s a chain, not a good chain, but a lousy chain with poorly trained staff with attitudes perfect for being a postal employee. Our order took what seemed forever, while others where being served. This is one place that makes burgers totally without any meat taste. I don’t know where they get their beef, but cardboard has more taste! They even asked how I wanted the burger done, why? Rare came out well done, and she never returned to find out if our food was ok. Chicken Caesar was full of brown lettuce and the dressing was too sparse. Their only claim to fame is overpriced garlic fries. Big Deal! But when you consider everything is either frozen or precooked, and the service has poor attitude this is not worth the time to come and get one halfway decent item they have, the brew…… Sorry Gordon, you can purge my name off the list for good! ”

“ Good food and huge portions. They have nice mix of regular pub food and more healthy choices like the hummus salad. The beer is good too. Went back there this week for the first time in a few years and not much had changed except all the waitresses were young and seemed really bored to be there. Not the best service. ”

“ Garlic fries and beer are awesome. Their burgers are alright. Everytime I've tried anything else on their menu, however, it was disappointing. Go there around game time if you want to hang out with fellow fans. ”

“ Don't go near this place unless you are also going to the Giant's game and don't mind squeezing in with 1000 other fans. Like all in the chain they have wonderful garlic fries and good beer but the ballpark is the only reason you would risk the crush. ”

“ Garlic Fries Garlic Fries Garlic Fries!!!! I'm a big fan of these, other than that the rest of the food was just o.k. Staff was awesome though! Really made the whole experience worth it. I went to have a few good brews, some glorified pub food, and a good time...that's exactly what I got. I was a little surprised that the brew wasn't a "better" flavor straight from the "horses mouth" but all in all I recommend it to anyone who asked just telling them to keep in mind that they're going to a public house and not to expect anything different. ”

“ I'm not a huge fan of their food outside of the signature garlic fries, but I do love their cold pints of Martzen. Surprisingly for a place that makes outstanding garlic fries, they have no clue on how to make a good burger. I've tried their burgers at least a dozen times hoping that things would improve this time, but to no avail...at least I always have decent fries. Medium or medium rare does not mean well done and cold. I've tried their apps and their other entrees and it's standard microbrewery fare.
Gordon Biersch gets a positive because it is a fun place to grab a few cold ones with friends...and they did give us our garlic fries. ”

“ The cook needs to be slapped for serving bad, greasy food. I made the mistake of going there in 1992, but (fast forward to 2005)I decided to give it another chance this past weekend. What a huge mistake! This place ranks beneath the national burger chains. It's really that aweful. I had to mix my own concoction of ketchup, salt and pepper to make the food somewhat palatable. If you want a good burger, it's worth strolling down to the Ferry Building to Taylor's. ”

“ At first thought, I was less interested in taking my wife and 1 year old to a brew pub (thinking the noise would be a problem.) Actually, we ended up having a very satisfying meal. The staff was attentive, the food was good and BECAUSE of the noise, it was actually kind of kid friendly. Lots of people having nice conversation and the bread pudding is worth trying. I had the Stir Fried asian Vegetables that were quite tasty if not a little too saucy. It would be a nice vegetarian option. ”

“ I have been many times and have never had good service...most often mediocre or worse for that matter. The beer is good...the food so-so. Fries are a no-brainer--must have--ocassionally the burgers are good...if they are not overcooked. ALWAYS packed during baseball season. I think its a good place if you want to hang out with a group of people and mainly just drink beer and have some apps. Nice patio. But I have officially declared that i will not return. The service SUCKS! ”

“ I can't add much to what the others have said. Beer and fries are great, some of the food is good enough, but overpriced compared to same quality for price elsewhere. However, it has a view and is a convenient hang out. We had an office appetizer and beer party there once before going to a ball game and that was a pretty good value for the money and location. ”

“ I agree that if you are downstairs with the "crowd" that gordon biersch is just average. However try making a reservation. This will magically transport you upstairs where the service is great, they still have awesome brew and the garlicy goodness of garlic fries, but it is way less noisy and there are more food options; and most of these are pretty darn good! ”
