“ At last, we wer in Yank Sing to see d fuss. Atrium & inside wer quite full, but no waiting. Tables r tight, w/ many partitions in btwen. Decor & ambience r casual, noisy like others. Some items wer a notch above 'em all, A-. Beef rice crepes wer thin & translucent. Finely minced beef was mixed w/ chopped water chestnuts. Gr8 texture & flavor. Chicken buns wer medium thick, w/ minced meat & fillings blended to silky texture. 1dRfL taste. Shanghai dumplings wer as g%d as it gets, w/ thin skin & juicy meat. Other items wer so-so, B+. Pork siu-mai had tiny roe on top. Spinach dumpling had green skin. D meat inside both wer coarse & not refined like above (as if from another kitchen). Worst taste was in getting d bill, each item ranged $5-10, cf $3-6 in top places in mid-Peninsula (Joy Luck or Zen Peninsula). Service is tops w/ many staff waiting for yor glance. They don't come cheap! Where's d price list? If u ask for price b4 picking food, u don't belong here! I'll be back in 2020. ”

“ we had a large party here, about 12 people. all the food was fresh and hot. good flavors. i have no idea of the prices because someone else was paying. we got a table quickly. water glasses were refilled promptly. the waiters didn't always seem to speak english well and some couldn't give us information about what we were considering ordering, but we all still enjoyed it. ”

“ Get there before noon, get a table by the kitchen, and grab every cart that goes by. Ask, "What is that?" to everything. The later you go the less comes out, and what does seems reheated. The less familiar dishes are best, like the sauteed greens, cabage walnut salad, unfamiliar dumpings, mango pudding. I like the meaty spare ribs and foil chicken things. The basic potsticker and chicken salad could have come from anywhere.

“ Best dim sum for downtown area including Chinatown. Plus others are closed around 2pm, this place serves till 4pm on the weekend. Their steamed BBQ pork buns look a bit different, that's all. I come here at least once a month. The take-out kitchen is great if you mind the long wait.

“
Took my husband last month for a treat. I knew that Yank Sing was expensive but boy did I get a shock. The prices are not posted anywhere so you really don't have any idea how much of a tab you are running up.
The dim sum was delicious, very good indeed. Great selection, fast service. We went at 1:30pm on a Sunday and I must admit that it felt like we were really being rushed. We really pigged out so I expected that the bill was going to be high but I wasn't prepared for $160.00 for two!!! Admittedly we went in hungry and ordered without abandon but still $160, not worth it. This was brunch and we didn't order any drinks! I can't imagine what the check would be if we had drinks!!
I used to go to Yank Sing regularly when I worked in the financial district. Totally disappointed. Will NOT return. Too many other good dim sum places that don't rush you and won't give you sticker shock. ”

This is a good place for people to try dim sum for the first time. The restaurant is clean, and the servers are willing to explain the dishes well. The dim sum itself is pretty good, but there are definitely more options for those who are more dim sum savvy. It cost me $60 for two of us last time. I can definitely not bring my parents here or they would be outraged at the prices. ”

Okay, I know the food is expensive, but it is so, so good. I love this place! The deep-fried shrimp is my favorite! The place offers a nice atmosphere and quick service. This is a wonderful spot to eat for lunch, dinner or any occasion. ”

“ You will find some of the best tasting dim sum here, along with some of the highest prices. The original Broadway location of this restaurant was a family destination for many who came from out of town to visit Dai Fow (the Big City) for many years. Then, they moved to Sansome, then to Rincon Annex and their prices have moved up each time. Admittedly, they have more complex flavors than most and I have yet to find Fun Gaw as good, but my ancestors would be rolling in their graves if I spent 3-4 times the amount I would at other places.

“ Hmm the dim sum is ok..
decent quality but ton kiang is better than here..
The only thing that beat ton kiang is their shanghai dumpling..juicy and tasty
but the rest ..Ton Kiang is better.

“ PROS: quick, efficient service (I like how the staff is outfitted w/ walkie-talkie headsets to convey to all food server staff when a table requests a specific dim-sum dish), prompt tea refills and check processing, delicious, fresh (no rancid oil after-taste), numerous offerings of traditional and "fusion" dim-sum dishes (best: peking duck and all steamed dumplings), best dim-sum place to take out-of-town guests, especially if not chinese, serve alcohol, many tables. CONS: pricey (up to $40/person-if large appetite), not enough bathroom stalls or space for large # of patrons they serve. If you want to eat high quality dim sum w/ your local friends on a casual day, go to Ton Kiang's. If you want high quality dim sum w/ people you'd like to impress or for a special occasion, Yank Sing is the place.

“ I tried this restaurant after I tried Ton Kiang the day before...I think the food is just ok..nothing special at all
They have less varieties comparing to Ton Kiang.
If you want good dim sum, I think Ton Kiang is much more better than here.

“ I love the noise and staff rushing about on a busy afternoon at Yank Sing. The visual and aroma barrage of the constantly passing food carts does lean towards sensory overload. I like the food here, my constant companion, Barbara is less enthusiastic. She's not a fan of any asian cuisine, so take her opinion in stride. Recent lunch was $58 for us & Barb did not eat heartily like me. I used to visit the old Battery Street location. Was the food better then? Maybe. The old place was a dot.com & banker hang-out, it was always more kinetic with happy diners than the new address. Still for variety & flavor of dim sum, Yank Sing is up there with the best places. ”

“ Way over-priced for what you get. Cost a bundle for two people and I as still hungry. If on a expense account, please go and try but not worth the money in my opinion. Food was nice but maybe too Americanized for me. ”

“ This is THE place to take out of town guests for dim sum. The choices are all over the place and they have some not so traditional dishes like grilled prawn wrapped in bacon and grilled scallion dim sum. It is swank, the hostesses are all beautiful, leggy model types, the service is great, the food is wonderful, I've taken many visitors here for high-end dim sum and it's always been a hit. WARNING. very expensive. this is not the place for everyday dim sum-special occasions only. ”

“ Um, did anybody tell them that you can buy frozen pot stickers at Costco? Yeah, I didn't think so....This place is about as Americanized dim sum as you can get! The crab claws and shu mai are very mediocre and the really good things are not to be found at this place. The prices are really high compared to Ton Kiang and it's just so darn bland. They need more ginger and lemon grass in their mixtures. They need to understand that the whities would like the different and unusual dishes, not just the asian crowd. In short, it's so-so but if you have a friend that has never had dim sum before, I guess it's okay. ”

“ I've been to Yank Sing on several occasions: once for dim sum, another for a company event and also for a banquet. On all occasions, I wasn't blown away by the food; it was just okay. During the company event, they served dim sum as appetizers and they were God awful. You won't believe it, but the dumpling dough was raw and uncooked. The sit-down portion of the meal was served family style where each dish is shared, but unfortunately each dish was not enough to share with 4 people in our table of 12. Everyone was still starving afterwards. The banquet was better. The food was okay, but it wasn't the best chinese food I've ever ate, though it was done well. The one thing I definitely enjoyed was their jasmine tea, which was of the highest quality, and their chili sauce. You can purchase these at the front counter. ”

“ i think this is the best place for dim sum in the city. it has all the traditional dim sum offerings but in a more upscale environmment. because it's in the rincon center, it's definitely going to be more expensive but it's worth it when you want to treat a friend to a nice lunch. service is alright, it's such a busy resturant. still, i've been going here for years and never had a bad meal here. there's something for vegetarians too. cons: restrooms are small and crowded. parking can be pricey. ”

“ I can't really rave over this dim sum place. It just seems too antiseptic.
I like dimsum restaurants that are frequented by asians and the servers don't speak english and it's totally ok because you just basically point at the dish you want when the trays come around. Knowing how to say thank you in cantonese/mandarin can pierce through that tough chinese waitress demeanor: Sheshenee or doche. Such is the world of true dimsum. They couldn't care less if they have international appeal or not.
Yank Sing is overpriced and not as delicious as say, Kay Cheung on Jackson. Now that's authentic dimsum. Or, if you don't mind the long line, Ton Kiang is good, too. ”

“ Great dim sum. Ingredients are always fresh and really high quality. One of the best places to get pork and shrimp dumplings anywhere. Yank Sing and Koi place are probably the best in terms of dim sum in the general area. They know this.... and charge you accordingly. Not for the budget conscious. This place will dent the wallet abit.... ”

“ My son and I love Yank Sing. I would only go here for a special occasion--this was another $125 lunch that just stunned me when I got the check. The duck is delicious and if you time it right (ie., early before the shirts arrive) there is a great selection. Don't go if you think this is cheap eats: it ain't! ”

“ Food is just as good here as thier other location. Still on my top 5 lists for dim sum. Atmosphere is OK...not thier strong suit...but they make up for the food quality. I do have to say however...I love the tea...but this is the only dim sum place that charges $5 for thier tea...usually its free or $1 a person...its a nice tea pot...but COME ON!!! :)

“ I enjoyed my dining experiences at Yank Sing. The food was both superb and the service was friendly. I admire their inventive nature; I've had dim sum dishes here that I've never had anywhere else. They seem to take a normal dim sum dish (example: har gow/shrimp dumpling) and jazz it up/dress it up with extra shrimp, extra ingredients, or something else to make it just a little bit unique. When I went a few years back, they were the first to use a clear glass teapot, which I thought was really nice. The only drawback to all this is that the prices are more than you would normally pay for dim sum. I suggest you try it once, then compare it to Koi Palace, Ton Kiang, or Harbor Village - the other dim sum places in the same class. ”

“ Yank Sing is in the top 3 of my dim sum restaurants in SF with Harbor Village and Ton Kiang. The food is excellent and there are other dim sum spots that are much cheaper, but I think Yank Sing is still one of the best for their offerings you won't find at other dim sum restaurants. Everything is fresh, but the interior and service can be bland...but I'm usually diving into a hargow and sipping on a glass of buttery chard to care. ”

“ Very good dim sum but there is better and cheaper in the city. Try Ton Kiang or Harbor Village. Yank Sing feels a bit like a dim sum factory, overpriced, and the food is not as varied or interesting as other spots. However, it's still very tasty. Nothing negative to say, but check your other options out. ”

“ Everyone told me that this was by far one of the best dim sum places in the city. I've been to a good one in china town and a good one in oaklands china town, and i expected this to be fantastic but it was fine. It didnt blow me away (although, the bill did. word to the wise: never do dim sum just for 2) but it was a very nice atmosphere. ”

“ The food here is excellent but what ruins the dining experience is the massive assembly production line atmosphere "Move'em in, move'em out, rawhide! process". The first thing is that they give you a pager so that you don't hang around the entrance to the restaurant. The problem is that there is very little to see in the complex so you wind up sitting outside anyway. The rush you in and out way too quickly and I found the experience a little to automated & pushy to really enjoy our guests. ”

“ This is the be-all-and-end-all of dim sum in San Francisco (well, except for Ton Kiang, maybe). You have to go searching for this place -- it's in the atrium of the Rincon Center, which is currently wrapped in white plastic, making it even harder to find. Make sure to have the Ground Chicken in Lettuce Cup and the Peking Duck. The steamed dumplings with pea shoots are yummy. If you're willing to be politically incorrect, have the Fried Sea Bass. Yup, it's the Chilean stuff. ”
