“ Modern California chinese food in a unique setting for a fair price. I love the hand blown glass sculptures and the ornate asian statues. We started with the combination plate, which includes: egg rolls, crab ragoon, pot stickers, drums of heaven accompanied by various sauces. Wayne asked for an extra order of pot stickers, he doesn't like to share. I'm not a fan of pot stickers, however these were outstanding and huge! The crab ragoon was perfect; you can't go wrong with crab and cream cheese. The egg rolls were perfectly fried and stuffed with fresh veggies, yum! By far the best app was the Drums of Heaven, crisp, juicy, spicy and delish! The mango beef was my favorite main, beautifully presented with orchid bloom, star fruit and berries on a black plate. The beef was tender and of good quality and the spicy peppers contrasted the sweet mango perfectly. Sweet and spicy, my favorite combination! The sunflower seed chicken was spicy and everyone at the table raved about it. The service ”

“ Fresh and tasty chinese food and like the other reviews say, its not greasy. I ordered the pot stickers and the shrimp with pine nuts and snow pea's. It was all super Taaaaaaaaassssssttttttyyyyyyyyy. Those pot sticker, while Angela and here parents were eating all the other dishes they passed on the pot stickers, I had three left over so I got to take them home, about 11pm I heated them up and they were even better, the ingredients were some of the highest quality in memory. Friendly service and moderate prices, I would definitely repeat when I'm in the area. Small areas for improvement. The chop sticks are made of metal, and they don't work so well, I asked for some take out wood types and they had no idea what I was talking about, eventually the translation when through. Lots of beautiful hand blown glass thought this restaurant make it something to see. ”

“
I love Eliza's! I'm never disappointed and find the food very fresh and not your typical greasy chinese fare. My favorite dishes are the steamed dumplings which are served in a yummy broth with veggies, mango beef and sesame chicken, which isn't served deep fried in a batter with a side of duck sauce. It is actually sliced chicken served with sesame seeds on top. My friend hadn't eaten chinese in 10 years and after that trip, he's now on the Eliza's wagon! Great food, great service and very inexpensive prices! ”

“
This isn't your average authentic chinese cuisine, but I enjoyed it. I was surprised to see Ostrich on the menu, but I heard it tastes like beef. I would go back because of the unique, tasty dishes and great service. The price wasn't too expensive. ”

“ We live 4 blocks from Eliza’s, and WERE a regular. Until they lost us as a client tonight 8/03/2005. Long story, very rude and unaccommodating customer relations. The waiter recommended an eggplant special that was off the menu – instead of the sautéed Mandarin Eggplant we initially ordered. When it came, it was deep-fried and breaded which was never explained [we were told it eggplant with chicken] . . . a totally different style and not as healthy. We took one taste and it was not to our liking and asked for a replacement. We were rudely told, “Too bad it is not too your liking and the chef’s do not like to waste food so we will not take it back, and no reversal charges”. We asked for our check and left. The word is being spread. ”

“ chinese American dining, but GOOD chinese-American. Sometimes I just crave tasty sweet n sour pork and they don't disappoint. Sesame chicken is always good and I really like their option of brown rice. The place is clean and the waitstaff is efficient. ”

“ Yes it's Americanized chinese food, but it's still tasty. I've been going to the Potrero Hill location since the 90s, and this location gives out decent food. I'm always drawn to the spicy eggplant, the sesame chicken, the house special prawns, and spicy chicken w/basil. The apps are good, get the combo starter which includes the chicken wings of heaven, crab rangoon, and the eggrolls. The onion cake is nice as well as the hot and sour soup. ”

“ You know how chinese food usually seems like a great idea and then promptly afterwards, you feel like crap? It'll never happen at Eliza's! Remember when you go though, that the staff isn't too friendly. They kind of want you in and out, pronto. If you take a break from your eating, they'll try and snatch your plate right out from under you. It's best to look like you're eating at all times. Now, for the food...you have to try two things for sure, nah- make that three: crab rangoon--so good, just like back east, hot and sour soup- it's the best i've ever tasted, and the mooshoo (probably spelled wrong but hey- i'm not chinese!) The food is fresh, beautfully plated, and most importantly very tasty. ”

“ delicious and fresh, the food is tasty, though not traditionally chinese (Dahvie called it chinese-INFLUENCED, good call). That said, there are terrific (and very fresh) veggies and the sauces are tasty. Brown rice is always my favorite so Eliza's wins on that front. ”

“ A neighborhood favorite on Protero hill for years, Did you know that Eliza's is named after their daughter? California Hunan/Mandarin cooking with all of its spice and sweetness. My fav is definitely the Shanghai Chicken done with a light sauce and served over their own Eliza's fried rice done just right. The atmosphere is pretty cool as well with colorful glass sculptures, often a wait on weekend, but well worth it. ”

“ I like this place because it seems to be not as greasy as most chinese restaurants. A healthier alternative to typical spots. I don't like the bright flourescent lighting in the restaurant, so I just do take out. ”

“ I had heard about this place for a long time and finally made it there for dinner with a group of 8 people. I had the ostrich and sampled the sea bass. Both were excellent. Very tasty food, good portions, elegantly presented. Strange decore and a little bright but very good food and well priced. ”
