“
In the ongoing battle between Tasty Curry versus Naan & Curry, I would give Naan & Curry the edge when it comes to the food. I think their's has a better mix of spices. But Tasty Curry is also good and it has the advantage of offering a less frenetic experience than N & C. In any case, Tasty Curry is fairly inexpensive, but you don't get a lot of meat -- my Chicken Tikka Masala had exactly 6 small nuggets of chicken. Fortunately, that means lots of the yummy sauce to soak up with your naan. ”

“
I can't believe this place has no negative reviews. I hated it.
I just don't like being ignored when I walk into a restaurant. That's not great service, it's indifferent service. Indifferent I can get that from my cat.
And it wasn't clean. My table was sticky, the floor was sticky.
I don't mind the do-it-yourself table setting concept. In fact, I kind of like it, but can't things be more organized so you don't feel like your snooping around your hosts kitchen looking for more napkins? And they don't have enough squeeze bottle sauces to go around. I saw some sauces on a few tables, but who wants to disturb other diners to see if they're done with the sauces?
Ugh. ”

“ Tasty Curry is just that, tasty curry. I recently had the lunch special which came with tikka masala and lentils (which were bland and dry) - I usually just get the Chicken Tikka Masala with 1 plain and 1 garlic naan and it is always delicious! I would recommend this place to anyone who likes cheap good eats. The garlic naan is to die for. BTW why doesn't any indian place just sell Naan with tikka masala dipping sauce ? I could eat that stuff all day long. ”

“ Much better alternative to nearby Naan 'n Curry. Similarly priced items on menu but prepared with more care and thought (instead of just relying on heavy cream). Tidy neighborhood joint, as reflected in its no-nonsense name. ”

“ A good friend took me here several years ago and this has been my favorite indian/pakistani place in the Sunset ever since. The décor is not pretty, but the food and the service make it worth discovering for your self. The prices are extremely reasonable and every dish I've had has been very flavorful. My staples there have been the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Spinach Paneer. While the value is good, the portions are not large which makes for a great opportunity to order several dishes to share. ”

“ I can't believe I haven't written a review about this place yet. This place is my main take
out joint. I've always had pleasant service, and love the free chai while you wait. The portions
are quite nice, and the food is consistently good. Their naan kicks Naan and Curry's butt.
UPDATE They also cutomize entrees for me. ”

“ this place was prety darn good! the staff wasn't very attentive, but the food was good. my friend and i ordered samosas, chicken tikka masala, aloo palak, an eggplant dish, naan and rice. the samosas, chicken and the eggplant each had a gentle spicey burn. the portion sizes were decent, good flavor. the naan wasn't my favorite, but it's pretty good. i'll go back. ”

“ I think my husband would eat here every night if it weren't so bad for us. I love love tasty curry. I agree with everyone, the service is friendly--so nice that they wave and say hello when we just walk by. BYOB is fantastic, and the food is ridiculously cheap. I love the baingan bharta, CTM, samosa chaat, etc etc... (use the bathroom before you go). The more you go the more you crave...

“ I have never had a good indian food until I come to this place. Thanks to SF Survey, I found a gold in the sand. Standard price is around 7 per dish. However, the food's value is beyond that. I would pay more than that. Spice is the key to indian food. The food from here is heavily flavorful, which is to my liking. Ask for daily special. ”

“ Better value than the other locals (Masala, Naan and Curry). We've been going there since (literally) the day it opened. The owner is consistenly friendly. The portions have gone down and the prices have gone up (ah, the good ol' days ;), but still good value and still very tasty. A little on the heavy side, but not so much that I mind. The CTM is solid, and the Baingan Bhartha is very good as well. The (insert favorite meat here) Jal Farezi is also quite good and is often the daily special. Tasty mango lassi. Definitely recommended.

“ Have been here a couple of times including today for lunch. Ordered tandoori fish and prawn vindaloo. The tandoori fish is excellent. You get two large salmon chunks that are somewhat blackened on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside. The prawn vindaloo was also quite nice with large tender shrimp. Portion sizes are pretty large here. Also had a good naan and some rice. This is a self service type of operation but its cheap and the food is good. Recommended. ”

“ Overall, I have to concur with the other reviewers. Tasty Curry is just that - and worth walking the extra 2 minutes from the dire Naan and Curry. All dishes are well cooked, the meat tender and the spices well chosen. Some of the chicken dishes sort of merge into one, which is a bit of a shame. However, the dahl is great and the take-out food tastes just as good - and it's pretty cheap. A great place to eat if you've been out on the lash all evening. ”

“ I thought the overall dinner was awesome - tasty and cheap --- but, I had the chicken daal and the chicken used for this dish had bones in it. I ended up picking out splintering bones from every other bite. Please use boneless chicken for these style dishes. ”

“ This restaurant has taken over the space that used to be Shabu shabu-cooking at your table. Because of this the tables are clunky,{as they have cooking units in them}and space for your legs suffers. This is another self-serve, no alcohol indian rest. First we had a potato naan, which was not cooked enough for our tastes, and had barely any potato at all, so we ordered the onion naan which was crispy and delightfully tasty. We had spinach and lentils, an eggplant dish, rice and Romeo had lamb chops. with the exception of the potato naan, all was yummy, yummy, yummy and I am looking forward to going back and trying other items. the no alcohol kept the bill down, nice side benefit ”

“ Took over from Naan and Curry as our favorite indian. Same type of set-up - bring your own bottle of wine and set your own table. Try to avoid spending the entire meal staring at the Bollywood on the television. Great food but very spicy. ”
