“ Hello, again.... It's 16 degrees or something here today, January 2nd. Where's here? Oh, upstate New York. I'm cold, hungry, but not afraid, just a bit homesick, okay A LOT homesick for some sunshine and good food. My thoughts again go back to the cah-RA-zee days of my youth in SF, when I worked as a secretary downtown at a software company full of cool computer geeks. At lunchtime, someone would hop over (yeah, sometimes on a motorcycle) to what used to be called El Faro's for what were gargantuan burritos (the kind that lay you out flat on the 'carpeted' lunchroom floor). A current friend has a son who lives in the mission district now, and wouldn't you know it - he says he has BEEN there, and says that though the name is different - El Farolito, things are just as I described them: tiny place, huge burritos, delicious. And of course, I always got a Dos Equis (sp? XX works). I haven't been there since 1976, but aren't you curious? You know you are. ”

“ From time to time, I find myself playing tour guide to out of town bands touring on a shoestring. When the set is over and the gear is packed and secure, we head here. I've never been in without several beers in me, and I'm not sure how I would feel about the food if I didn't. That said, every time I have been in, I remember being really stoked to be. The food has never disappointed - even the next day.

“ Just another Mission District taqueria (absolutely nothing different about its quality or menu), but with the benefit of being close to BART and open very late. ”

“ my favortite burrito joint in the mission, hands down. staff is friendly and fast, and the food is yummy stuff-yourself-with-sourcream-and-guac type mexican fare. I got a shrimp burrito last time i went and it lasted me two meals! ”

“ With so many other choices in the mission, I don't think EL F rates. Totally mediocre food. Only bonus is that it is open really late for the post bar-hopping burrito fix. ”

“ No, no, no. K1ki is right, too salty. Too loud, no atmosphere. If you live around the corner go to Taqueria San Jose, or go further to sit down at La Rondalla for bad food, but quirky service and decorating. ”

“ El Farolito is a mediocre burrito joint. Too salty and the ingredients aren't very fresh. Avoid anything like avocado where freshness is an issue. Its primary positive is its relatively late hours. ”

“ This place gets a positive from me because they are open LATE. An important factor for late night drinking recovery. Not the cleanest or the best by any means(El Toro, Pancho Villa, La Taqueria kicks Faralito's a** for quality and taste), but Faralito serves an important function. Late night food. When's the last time you got a quesadilla suiza or torta @ 2:30 am? ”
