“ This delicious dim sum place makes a strong first impression: the long line of chinese patrons, cheap prices (steamed dim sum = $1.55 for 3 pieces), & listing on the Chronicle's recommended cheap eats. In contrast, the atmosphere is bare-bones w/ about 6 tables for self-seating . Better to take your dim sum & eat elsewhere. Definitely follow the advice about taking a pink menu & circling the items & quantity. That's how you place your order. Make sure to bring a pen & wear comfortable shoes, as it is a long wait. However, it opens @ 7:30 am, so maybe this is the best time to go. Recommended for patient people wanting bargain tasty dim sum. ”

“ this is pretty much the only to-go dim sum place I've been to in the city and honestly the only one I go to. Yes, there is always a huge line, the place is a bit unkept but I do hope sanitary and the ladies behind the counter know how to give it to you if you've reached the front of the line and haven't the slightest idea what you want. Note: take a pink menu upon entering and circle what you want. I know you want to look at all the delicious morsels before buying but trust me, just circle, order, then eat because the chance that everything will be GOOD is pretty much high. This is a really delish dim sum spot! ”

“ I'm gonna go positive for this not on taste but because they could fill your ultra bulky order. Sure it seems like the workers hate you, but they get it done. Had to get a ton of food relatively quick for a bunch of people on a Saturday morning, and time was of the essence, so we hit these guys up. Saved time, saved money, and everyone was full. If you want to eat tasty dim sum, go elsewhere, but if you it want fast and relatively cheap (I remember when they used to have 3 pieces of your basics for a buck) go here. Good luck, since the line can get kinda long at times.

“ Our son goes to school in the Richmond (Sutro Elementary) so when we drop him off - several times a week we make the trek to Good Luck dim sum (GLDS). Don't have a craving on a Tuesday however - they are CLOSED on Tuesdays (and it's NOT worth trying most of the other options along Clement St - they don't match up). Best bets are the Har Gow; BEEF Sui Mai; Crystal Dumpling (kind of a Sui Mai with WHOLE Shrimp inside); Woo Gok (Taro Dumpling); Hom Sui Gok (Fried Rice Dumpling with Shrimp and Pork) and the Baked Pork Buns. Lines can be long at times (I will agree that the service is very spotty - it can range from RUDE to Indifferent (one of my pet peeves about GLDS is that they will have a LONG line, and 2 of the 3 workers will be packing large orders for LATER in the morning - ). Prices have crept up over the past several years, but the quality of the food has remained high.

“ I love this place!! It's a great price, and yummy!! I don't know how there are so many neutral reviews! This place is ALWAYS jam packed!! They have great staples, and the food is always fresh and warm!! Maybe people take good "pink box" places for granted! Any other dimsum shop on the street will offer dismal dimsum selections! This place also has reliable service, and though they are not overly friendly, I haven't had any mix-ups or rude service!! I love those people!!! Good Luck, Good Luck; yum, yum!! ”

“ Cheap hit and run dim sum spot which didn't impress. Tried a couple of of items that were lukewarm like the chive dumplings and potstickers. Definitely not a Sunday destination spot, more of a pop in when you want a snack ONLY if you happen to be right there. ”

“ If you're cheap and craving for some dim sum, go here. At times there could be lines but they're cheap and good but the ladies taking orders could be real rude. If you like chinese buns, you should walk a block down to Red A's Bakery and try their cocktail Bun(Guy Mei Bao) so addicting! ”

“ Positives:cheap. Tried the pot stickers, which i think would have been good if they wern't cold. Also tried the shrimp & chive dumplings which might have been good if there was a bit more stuffing and not so watery. Might give it another try ---might not. ”

“ When I saw the line stretched to the back of this place, I thought "This MUST be good." The large bamboo steamers in the front window looked promising too. Boy was I let down. The steamed dumplings I got were COLD which really kills the flavor. They have both steamed and pan-fried versions of the chives and shrimp dumplings (my favorite). The rice in lotus leaf is worth trying - the one with the meat in it. Prices are great and taste is mediocre. Not worth the wait in line but good if you only have a few bucks to satisfy your cravings. ”
