Tried their spider and caterpillar rolls. Both were not good. Fails my 50%+ test for asian restaurants and the wasbi seemed watered down to accomadate the american palette. Review #16281

I had a great experience here. It was jam packed with people, and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves. I was happy with the portions, and price. The spicy tuna roll was yummy, and when you order nigori sake here, they give you the whole bottle :). Review #15876

Ate here Sunday night. As usual I tried the combo sashimi. It was resonably priced at $14.50 (comes with miso and rice---well its suppose to they charged me for the miso and I never got the rice. ) It was pretty good. Tuna, hamachi, tako, salmon and white tuna. Salmon was very succulent, tuna and hamachi were good, tako nice and crunchy...the white tuna was AWFUL. I tasted a couple bites of 3 different rolls and was not impressed at all. So overall I can't say I was totally impressed. Ebisu is still #1 for me. Review #13752

Good prices but the sushi fell short. The nigiri sushi was nice(maguro, hamachi), but the 3 rolls we tried just weren't put together well and were falling apart. The Godzilla Roll, the Tinky Winky, and the Lazy Monkey(had to try it for amusement purposes, a roll with banana, cream cheese, etc) DISAPPOINTED. I would give it another go since so many people like this place and it was a Sunday nite. Review #13748

I work just down the block and after work one night I came with some friends and it was SO crowded. This tiny place needs to expand more. It gets so crowded inside with little table and the people waiting inside is crammed to one another. But the sushi are good and inexpensive. Big portions. I order all my rolls from the board behind the sushi bar. Came out pretty quick but service was a little slow. waiting for my order to be taken, my check for the longest time, and my tea refill. But everything else was good. Review #12057

Just had the chance to try out this place yesterday night and it was packed. Wished that their place is bigger so it wouldn't be as cramped as it was but the sushi was great. There weren't a lot on their menu but it was still good. Had the Godzilla roll, Spider roll, Rainbow roll, and the Dragon Roll. All were delicious and the fish was fresh. The service was kind of slow but were very friendly. Try this place out but go early or you'll be waiting a while. Review #11509

Godzilla is my go-to sushi bar. Consistently good, no-frills place. Go off-peak and avoid crowds (it can get pretty hot in there). Review #8876

We visited Godzila on a whim and it was a pleasant surprise. My partner is extremely skeptical about trying new sushi places, so I was relieved. I loved the prices and the maguro, which can sometimes be a little mushy. Here, it was firm and shiny. The hamachi was sweet and tender. Portions are somewhat petite, but that is not so much a criticism as a signal of my American taste for big things. I do wish they had a few more roll options; the combinations on the dry-erase board seemed calculated to involve unagi, which the boyfriend disdains. The chef did, however, allow us to substitute sake in one of those rolls. For an extra charge. Review #7849

This may become my new fav for sushi. It is very reasonably priced (I don't want sushi to be too cheap, if you know what I mean!) I love the decor! Very sparce space with Godzilla movie posters. It's refreshing to find a place that concentrates on great food and service, rather than hiring interior designers to "create a mood". All the basics are covered here, as well as offering some inventive specials. Try the "lazy monkey" if available, a roll with banana as one of the ingredients, yum! Sake is a bargain here as well. Good-priced sushi, always fresh. Atmosphere leaves something to desire, but good for a quick weekday sushi fix. the sushi chefs are very nice and if you sit at the bar they will generally give you something new to try. Review #5894

It's fun to sit at the bar & eat as the sushi chefs are super-friendly. Always crowded, and while the food does not stand out compared to the many other sushi restaurants in the city, it's dependably good. Review #3226

Their spicy tuna rolls and nigiri are excellent; I had take-out though so I can't vouch for the in-restaurant experience. Review #1744

This is one of the few places in SF where you can get great sushi without spending $40 a person. It is very worth going to when you feel like a laid back sushi experience. Review #1150
