I love the food. They hate the baby. My friends have a baby and this sort of place is perfect because it's loud enough that an occasional baby hoot isn't going to bother anyone, it in fact goes unnoticed. Even with that, my friends are the types of parents that you love that take the baby outside if the loud noises last for more than five seconds. They still hate the baby. Because the baby is with us, we often come earlyish. 6p or so. Every time we have gotten the same story from the hostess. You have to be done by (arbitrary time), we have a large group coming in. Our group is the mom and three largish men and the baby. We order a lot of food. We tip very well. They still hate the baby. My partner and I have gone on our own a couple of times and have never seen all those large tables full and we never run into that big party that is waiting for our table. So, why do we return, well the food is really good. The atmosphere works for us and we love the baby. Review #15949

Negative Cuisine: American (New) Eclectic Pacific Heights
Well, I guess this place isn't about service...our group visited after work one evening, spent quite a bit, and we asked to leave because they had a large group waiting. We were leaving anyway, but I've never, ever heard of a restaurant doing that, hmm. Anyway, except for the fish tacos which were quite tasty, the other dishes were nothing to write about. The drinks are very strong, they all taste the same but you can tell them apart because of the color. Go somewhere else. Review #9797

Solstice is about tapas-style dining w/ a hip, 20-sthg vibe. It's a good place to come after work, if you work in Pacific Heights. It's got that kind of vibe (read: not really my scene). They have strong, good drinks: I recommend the Ginger Rummy, with pieces of candied ginger in it; it's delicious and creative. For food, I love their tempura fried fish tacos w/cumin, and their asparagus w/prociutto was good, but the mac and gorgonzola cheese is way too salty for my taste. Service is so-so, (meaning it's without personality), prices are high, and parking is difficult. Review #7180

Positive Cuisine: American (New) Eclectic Pacific Heights
Solstice is a great little restaurant with a cool ambiance. The room is dark and cozy with a romantic feel. I really like the sunken bar area off to the side for small groups. The small plates were very good and I tried most of them. Service was a little blah if I had to find a negative, but overall, it's a great place to try. Review #2837
