“ When the sun is out on one of those rare SF days, preferably weekend days, I often find myself here. And I don't really know why. The food is average, nothing at all special about it. It's often too crowded. And there are so many other places that are much better in the area. But I seem to be drawn to it by some unapparent force in the universe when the weather is nice to have a beer and a sandwich. ”

“ I have been here twice for breakfast on the weekend. It can be difficult to find seating, especially if you are a group of more than two. However, the hot chocolate and mochas are amazing, and everyone I've gone with seems to be happy with the food. Cute, rustic, relaxed, atmosphere. ”

“ I go here a couple of times a week to grab a bite to eat since it's a couple doors down from my work. The staff is great, and I find it has a little more ambiance than other coffee houses--I like that they have the big, cushy sofa & chairs. Occasionally I kill some time there between appointments and hang out & read. I've noticed that it seems to be a hotspot for online daters to meet. Watch for people timidly approaching others: "Hi, are you (insert name here)?" I try to avoid even going there on Sundays, as the line is out the door. Raoul's bagel, with it's bacon, egg & cheese is one of my favorites, as is the ruben and the apple chicken salad. ”

“ Down the line solid for breakfast, lunch and drinks. Get a beer and sit in front in the sun, or grab coffee and enjoy the comfy seats inside. It is a hangout, to be sure (so if you get a comfortable spot stay there), and the prices are no steal. But in terms of sitting, hanging, and while-ing away the the day; the grove is the best (non-bar) that you will find on upper filmore. Suggestions: The bagel sandwiches, breakfast burrito, and vegi burgers are good. The beers are a nice size, and the ceaser is good (though not cheap). Pass on the chili, though, as size and taste aren't worth it. The baked goods are fine, but a bit over priced (in my book) for what you get. Overall, the wait-staff are hurriedly friendly, though I could happily leave the up selling somewhere else. Like I said: solid. Hang, talk, enjoy. ”

“ I love this spot. It is a favorite for breakfast and lunch or a light early dinner. The oatmeal with fruit and brown sugar is one of my favorite in town. It is a great laidback environment for a coffee in the Fillmore. Maybe the only place remotely bohemian in the area. Great staff and music. I love to hang out on the sofa next to the rustic fireplace. I used to hang out with my Turkish tutor there. A truly inspired spot.

“ Raul's Bagel is the only thing you need to know when you walk into this place. Thick cut smoked bacon, egg, cheese inside a bagel. You'll be picking the bacon out of your teeth for a week. But every time you go diggin' and pick out a piece, you'll be lovin' life. They have a Zumex 2000 orange juicer. Last time I saw one of these was in Sevilla. This puppy slices and juices you a glass of O.J. in about 15 seconds. This thing must of cost an ass-load to buy b/c what they charge for a glass of juice is outrageous. Damn good, though. ”

“ What's missing from the other reviews is that The Grove is a coffee shop. It has expanded to offer more food, wine, and beer, but it's essentially a cafe/coffee shop. The seating is cafe-style, and there's plenty of it, including outside tables, indoor window benches, and overstuffed leather chairs by the fire place. Lattes are fantastic. The cookies are as big as your head and flat as Oklahoma, and are the perfect complement to coffee. Mochas are rich without drowing out the espresso. I've had some soups from The Grove and found them all filling. But the coffee and sweets--that's where it's at. You can find berry pies by the slice, such as blackberry, as well as cheesecakes and chocolate (flour-based) cakes. Great atmosphere. Great coffee. ”

“ The Grove is a spot we used to hook up with friends for Sunday breakfast. The food won't blow you away by any means, but the breakfasts are okay and you can wait for your friends to show while sipping on a beer. Defititely busy on the weekends, but a short wait will get you a table. ”

“ The Grove is an easy place to meet up with friends before heading out to a movie at AMC or while shopping on Filmore. The food won't win any prizes, but it's decent and reasonably priced. Pair it with coffee or a beer, or skip the food all together and just enjoy a beverage and the atmosphere. ”

“ comments: The Grove is an excellent place to hang out for a coffee or a beer. The food isn't that great if you are there to dine only, but not bad either. The mexican dish was greasy, stay away from it if you are watching your weight. The beer selection is good. The desserts look yummy, I tried a cookie. The fire is a nice touch. Love the atmosphere at the Grove and I feel creatively inspired there. Reminds me of a lodge at Crater Lake, Oregon. ”

“ Adore the cupcakes: they look so ordinary but the flavors are intircate and delicious, I think there are almond tones in the "white cupcake". Yummy! They've got that salad too with cherries and a mustard dressing. It's called something like KC's salad and it is so great. The prices are kinda expensive, though, for me. It's normal for me to spend like 11 dollars for a salad and a large soy chai. Comfy tables. Lots of places to sit and lots of spots to plug in the ol' laptop. Also have benches outside! ”

“ The Grove is a low-key desination for friendly, relatively affordable and great food, coffee and tea. This super-popular spot is worth a visit. Serve free range hormone free meat (thier Philly Cheese Steak is great!). Busy on the weekends but worth the short wait. Outdoor sidewalk seating. ”
