Barney's is great. They have just about any meat/cheese/bread combo imaginable. Good beef- can't speak as to the veggie options or other food on the menu. Try the mushroom burger! Review #21057

Yuck. This place just does not excite me. My 14-year old daughter loves the curly fries, but I find everything uninteresting. Review #19708

A definite cure for a hangover, but note that food-coma will take place shortly after you finish. Lot's of different burgers to choose from. You can create your own with additions such as extra bacon and cheese. The curly fries come straight from the bag, are flash fried and accompanied with a ranch sauce. Service can be good or bad. Barney's burgers are good, pretty messy, but good. I like sitting on the back patio on a nice day and enjoying a fat cheeseburger. I just wish it was not so messy. Oh well, I love the curly fries and ranch dressing. I think the ranch dressing here is better then most places. As a matter of fact, their fried veggies are pretty dam good! Service is a bit spotty, as sometimes you sit and wait for your bill while the girl is telling her friend her life story. Not really a place you go for because of the service. I also wish they would get a fountain machine, but I still go here and enjoy it. Make sure to ware on old shirt if you tend to be a messy eater, as I have ruined a shirt or two here!! Review #16821

Nice big hamburgers, with many different styles to them. They also have some really tasty crispy fries. The service is nice, and i like how its seating in the backyard with the little heaters. I kno it can get a little cold but i think its pretty worth it. Service is pretty good too, nice and always smiling. yummy burgers! Review #16149

Pretty good burgers. large portions, great curly fries. The salads are just okay, but it's a burger joint so you really can't expect too much. Fabulous milkshakes and service. A great deal for the money. great patio seating that not enough restaraunts offer. Review #15575

Killer burgers prepared any you want it customized or you can choose from any one of their 20 or so time tested ideas on the menu. Also great chicken sandwiches prepared with a large healthy chicken breast. Get a basket split 50/50 with curly fries or steak fries and pick which you like best. Huge portions, great service and awesome food. It is no wonder that they are always very busy. They also have a great deck out back with umbrellas over the tables. Review #15231

I've wanted to try this place out since FOREVER! I finally got the chance to go there for lunch today and it was great, from the food to the service. There was a lot of choices on the menu but I just went for the original Barney's Burger with cheese and half a basket of curly fries. I got stuffed eating just half my burger and half my fries. The burger was great. Although my bun was a little soggy from the juice of the burger but it was still yummy. The fries was good too. A half basket could definitely feed two people. Review #10504

A great place to get a big burger off of Chestnut Street. Lots of choices... even chicken, turkey, and veggie. A great assortment of various fries; large onion rings; and fried tempura vegetables. Service can be slow at times, so just kick back and relax with a milkshake. Review #7344

Another Chestnut STreet favorite - if you're in the mood for a really good burger, Barney's is the place to go! They do just about everything to a burger. I like the guacamole/swiss burger. Everything is fresh and tasty. A few varieties of french fries and great thick onion rings. Shakes are real and excellent. They also have veggie and portabello mushroom burgers for the vegetarians out there. Review #6206

My biggest "beef" with Barneys are the buns. They just seem gummy and unpleasant. I also finally stopped ordering anything with bacon because they are the only known people in the universe that know how to make bacon taste bad! Something about their cooking method makes it hard and chewy. Lately I have been finding myself ordering the veggie burgers. Really though, it's an ok burger. You can do worse. Review #5417

When you approach Barney's, your inner childhood bounces right back. Especially when you see that stack of spicy curly fries, and that delicious burger with onions, bbq sauce and cheese...Plus the onion rings & a milkshake -- WOW I'm stuffed just thinking about it. You could walk off a few of the calories waling around Chestnut St or a stroll up to Union...The dining area is comfortable & clean - you can't go wrong here if you're into a nice burger. O.K. the burger patty itself is no better than In&Out or Jonny Rocket's, but the variety of fixins', buns, etc. is what makes this burger experience standout. The curly fries are fantastic. Service is sit-down burger o.k. Going here ensures you'll never get bored with having a 'burger.' Review #4793

Barney's serves the BEST turkish coffee milkshake around. Also, I love their chicken sandwiches, especially the carribean chicken (with jerk marinated carrot, zucchini and onion). The fries are great too! Tons of sandwich choice (Burger, chicken breast, turkey or garden/veggie) and good salads too! Review #4314

Great hawaiin burger with bacon and all the trimmings- great curly frys and chocolate shakes - a little overpriced for a hamburger but not bad over all. I have eaten at several barneys and they are all the same- understaffed and the food is rarely taken out out- you see your burger come up and the guy rings the bell for a pick up and your food just sits there. i would pass over all- who wants a cold over priced hamburger - and overpayed Johny rockets - is a better place Review #2982

I finally went to Barneys after hearing time and again it is arguably the best burger in SF...well, I sure hope not. The menu offers a dozen or so burger variations (I has the parisienne; burger with blue cheese, and pickled onions on a baguette) but the meat patty is just average. I did however REALLY enjoy the onion rings! Review #2571

The first thing I think of when I go to a burger specialty joint is that the burgers must be great. Unfortunately, they weren't, just plain average. I prefer a softer bun rather than the ones that cut the inside of your mouth. There are many burgers on the menu, so maybe there would be one I liked. I'll try it again sometime. Review #2156
