Little bites of heaven, Angela and I ordered the Fish taco's. The fish was cooked just perfect, light and flavorful. Yummy :-) The salsa with the chips is creamy and I enjoyed it. I'll be back to try more. Review #21014

the wait can be strangely long for a taqueria but really worth it. the grilled veggie is fantastic. everyone i know is obsessed with the tofu mole, so though i don't personally love it, it should definately be tried. Review #20125

Very good, if trendy, mexican food. No, it's not the most "authentic", nor the cheapest in the neighborhood, but the food's good. Lots more interesting veggie options than most other places, too. Review #18991

I'm not sure why everyone is raving about this place. It was a complete disappointment. The meal started off on the wrong foot and only got worse. My partner and I ordered the Chorizo con huevos, and asked for coffee. "You'll have to go to Starbucks next door," was the cashier's dry reply. Who serves breakfast food in this town without serving coffee? When the food arrived, the beans were lukewarm and so was the rice. Those aluminum barstools didn't add the experience -- it was like sitting on a block of ice. Maybe the original location is better, but the one on Fulton Street is a no-go. Review #17815

Papalote is my favorite burrito joint and is located in my neighborhood so it has become a staple to my diet: The food is fresh, the service is good and they have the best salsa (which is also jarred up and ready to go out the door). I highly recommend the pollo or carne asada super burrito. Review #16081

The ultimate in customizable burritos, you have multiple choices of tortilla flavor and about 30 things to choose from inside, as a veggie, i really loved the Soyrizo a vegan churizo alternative, spicy and delicious, the roasted veggies are great too. they have a fully stock drink selection including a couple beers on tap and some in the fridge. The house salsa is amazing and available to take home, something you should definitely do. Review #16053

Papalote is amazing because it's excellent and it's different than every other taqueria in the Mission. Light and healthy, I've only tried their shrimp burritos and they've been tasty. Not huge like our beloved Pancho Villas, but just enough to make you happy. Another plus is their tasty, roasted fiery salsa and chips...I didn't know you can grab a jar to go, but I'll grab one this week. Review #15482

Simply some of the best mexican food. I'm compelled to call it "Modern mexican" food. It's light & flavorful. When I requested that something be prepared in vegetable oil rather than butter, they cheerfully agreed to do so. The veggie dishes are good and the salsa is amazing. Review #13886

I love Papalote. I love the fact that they've opened up a new location in the western addition. I go there repeatedly for many reasons. First and foremost, is the salsa. It is spicy and roasty. You can buy jars of it to take home for $6, and if you bring the jar back you get a refil for $5. I also love this place because of all the wonderful vegetarian/vegan options. All their beans are vegan. The soyrizo burritto, and the grilled veggie burritto are my favorites, and consistantly tasty. I've never had bad food from them, and I've had them alot. Review #13384

This was the worst ever!, I am not a mexican food fan, but this night out was really bad. Between the burritos were bland, and natchos were burned. The place was packed and took forever to get seated. Review #12526

This is the freshest burrito in the city. They make everything to order and do not use any lard. They also have plenty of vegetarian options. You have to try the shrimp burrito. Review #12302

this is the faavorite place of a friend of mine, so she took me here to try it. it was fine. nothing amazing, but not bad either. we split a quesadilla. i really enjoyed the salsa. I thought they did a fine job on the quesadilla. but i do think the place is more expensive than it needs to be. the atmosphere was nice. nice looking place. the staff was friendly enough. My first time at Papalote. It's good, but it's not my favorite place for mexican food or burritos. I guess if I'm feeling like I need to be eating healthier, Papalote will be a good option. I had the pork burrito with hot salsa. It's a big giant thing and the hot salsa is HOT. It was tasty, but it wasn't an amazing burrito. My friend said the chicken in his burrito was good, but that overall the chicken burrito was bland. Review #9776

There are cheaper mexican alternatives in the neighbourhood, but Papalote is a truly pleasant place to eat. It's also super fast and easy for takeout, with great fresh food and lots of veggie choices. The Chicken Mole is (in my opinion) the best thing on the menu, and the fish tacos are pretty good too for eating in. For takeout, I love the prawn quesadillas (with a side of guacamole) or the grilled vegetable tacos or burrito. Papalote will always add chips and wonderful salsa gratis for takeout orders. (Note: I haven't tried any of the beef or pork dishes.) Review #7822

Almost good enough for a positive, but not quite. Carne Asada burrito was tasty, and the steak was not at all fatty or gristly, which is rare and fantastic, but the small quantity of meat in the burrito was entirely overwhelmed by the comparatively large quantities of beans & rice. This was very disappointing. The salsa (of which I think they only have one kind) is fantastic though. Horchata was pretty good. Nicely toasted tortilla on the burrito. They also have a couple beers on tap. Review #7672

I like this place. Yup, as simple as that. They offer fresh food and delicious salsa. Make sure to try their mole. You would need CPR afterwards for you'd die and go to hell or heaven or be reborn as an avocado tree, etc. Some might say it's too expensive, but I believe I'll pay even $10.00 for a yummilicious burrito if it is yummilicious enough. And I think that most foodies (and I think we sfsurveyors are all foodies) would agree with me. I also appreciate the nice energy the staff has. Don't you just hate it when you go to a place and people are just bitter and mean? Kudos, Papalote, I'm yours! Review #7486

Papalote is pretty disappointing. Pricey burritos with no included extras--that means you pay 9 bucks to get a super dry burrito (I had the pescado). Their guac is okay. Sure the place is fun and colorful but it's a hipsterized joint for burritos. Why not back track a few blocks back up for better alternatives? Review #6230

All my friends rave about this place. I was not impressed. Salsa was good, chips were good and the agua fresca was ok. The carne asada burrito was just average. It would have been good, but the rice and beans just toned down the carne asada flavor... maybe next time I will try the chicken mole. I still prefer Cancun any day. Review #6228

Went here originally to pick up some tickets for KRS-1. It smelled so good in there, I decided to order some food too. Family owned & operated (2 brothers & a wife). Fresh ingredients daily. Great prices! 2 soft tacos run $3-$4. Fabulous salsas! People were taking so much salsa from their salsa bar, they had to start charging for large quantities! It's a small place, with lots of windows looking out onto Valencia. They also offer a good variety of vegetarian options. Review #2093
