“ As much as I want to hate it because I think of it as the Olive Garden of pizza, I must admit, it's pretty decent. Interestingly enough, I would have to say that the piza is my least favorite thing on the menu - the crust is bland and dry. Good salads. ”

“ well, apparently we have a quite a bunch of mixed reviews here. Well so far i have not had a bad experience. In a sense it is kinda over priced for the kind of pizza they have but i have to say its pretty inventive. I mean who would of thought of bbq chicken pizza? I kno it gets old eventually but you know you liked it when it first came out. The salads are actually not bad too. Also the service has been pretty good to me. Treated me very well with respect and didnt mess up my orders. Overall i think its pretty decent.

“ I finally got a chance to go to CPK after many years of wanting to go. I tried the goat cheese w/roasted peppers pizza and it was pretty good and tried the chicken Caesar sandwich. Not worth the money at all. Almost half the chicken sandwich had no chicken in it. I'll probably just stick to the pizza from now on. ”

“ This place used to serve a Tandori Chicken pizza that came with chutney and was fantastic. It has gone down hill in the last few years, though, and now it's only a mediocre dining experience. Not bad if you're at the mall and need a quick bit, but not at all a dinner destination in itself. ”

“ I was always a big CPK fan until I moved to SF. The food at CPK on Van Ness taste a lot different that at a CPK in LA. I don't know why. I've had a very bad experience with the Baja spring rolls here. They taste stale and as if they've been over-nuked in the microwave. I don't understand how they can mess up on such a thing. The cooks are awful! I've noticed over the years they put less toppings on your pizza than what they use to. I avoid ordering pizza now. I sat @ the counter one time and ordered a BBQ Chicken Salad. I said no ranch dressing, no beans, extra BBQ sauce. I watched the server write everything down and put it in properly, but as always, the cook did not follow the instructions. He put extra ranch on it and put beans on it! How hard is it to follow instructions? This has happened so many times. They find nothing wrong with working that way. I will never return to the CPK on Van Ness. I may return to a CPK in LA when I'm there. I suggest avoiding this place. ”

“ it's a chain, but sometimes i'm in the mood for a chain. the food's good and there was no wait. moderate prices. enough of a variety. i had the mushroom pizza and there were a lot of them on there. large enough portions that i could have leftovers. the salads are gargantuan. ”

“ I think the novelty has worn off. I used to love their pizzas because it was creative and original. Today, I crave just real and delicious food. But CPK, for me, has always been a venue for California cuisine. So when I got a hankering for some light fare influenced by world cuisine, I went back and ordered the spaghettini with tomato basil sauce. Yummmy! I guess I am tired of the previous things I order there, but you know what? they serve other stuff too. CPK, the restaurant that serves more than your usual. ”

“ One of the better chain restaurants. The Denny's like atmosphere is the weakest link. The pizzas are good when your in the mood for something different. I like the tostada pizza. This place almost never makes the short list when trying to decide where to go, but if you have less than adventerous guests looking for something comfortable, this place will do nicely. ”

“ The slacker wait staff needs to be sent back to Olive Garden, where they belong. There are too many hungry servers in this city to excuse the service here. To be fair, maybe this is one of those places where you are reintroduced to society because you started college pledging a sorority but somehow wound up in prison instead. I would never go back, except this place is a block away, and Amici's is not. ”

“ for a chain restaurant it is not so bad. it is definitely not a destination place but if you are in the neighborhood and want a quick bite it serves consistently decent food. the pizza's are creative and cooked to order. ”

“ The lunch time service could be a little quicker IMO. The food is average and reliable, with typical salad options. Don't expect to be able to share a pie if you're a big eater. ”

“ It's a chain restaurant, so what do you expect? The food is really not bad, and they are one of the first to throw the kitchen sink on to a pizza. A mass market attempt at fusion dining, and not a bad crack at it. Fine dining this is not. ”

“ Typical chain...used to like eating @ CPK when I was a Freshman @ USC in Los Angeles, but my palate just doesn't appreciate the whole BBQ sauce pizza. I see how some people love this place and it's a good chain...but why eat at a chain when SF has so many good choices? ”

“ This is probably my favorite chain restaurant. I like how innovative they are with their pizzas, but I feel that they are a bit overpriced (and their prices keep going higher!). I like the thai chicken pizza, the Peking duck pizza, the shrimp garlic pizza, and the kung pao spaghetti. I also like their bruschetta-like appetizer (forgot what it's called). Their food is consistently pretty good, and throughout all chains as well. ”

“ CPK leads the way in casual restaurant chains in the premium pizza category. Of course, the Original BBQ chicken pizza is something special, many others are good as well. My last visit met with an incompetent server that forgot things and didn't;t listen very well. The other servers weren't much better, complaining and talking loudly about their chores and such. If you don't like it there, leave. ”

“ Another affordable option that has graced the greater Opera House area in the past few years. It is a chain, but is dependable for their nice salads, warming soups and creative pizzas. Service can be really hit or miss though, so be patient ”

“ Service was very slow. Our waiter kept forgetting whether I ordered diet or regular Pepsi. He neglected to take away our appetizer plate when our entrees came and didn'twipe the crumbs off the table when he took away our plates at the end of the meal. The pizza is nothing to write home about. I've had better pizzas elsewhere. ”

“ One of the very few chain restaurants worth going to in the city. As you would expect from a chain, the food is consistant and there is enough diversity on the menu to please almost anyone. There are not a lot of great dining choices in this neighborhood in the evening so it can often be a practical choice for a quick bite before or after a movie or show. If you go, be bold and try one of the many different 'pizzas'. ”

“ If you've never been to this chain, CPK offers an ecletic variety of pizzas and salads that make for easy crowd pleasing. If you need a quick, reliable bite to eat down on the South end of Van Ness, this is a good bet--though i favor local/little restauranteurs. ”
