Good pizza, but not such a nice environment to hang out.

From the delivery menu, I've had and loved: the mountain, hawaiian, calzone, chicken sandwich, sauteed mushrooms, greek salad and spaghettini with meat sauce. All very tasty and recommended. Oh yeah - Four! Hundred! Four! Hundred! Four! Hundred! Four! Hundred! w00t! Review #20695

Vito's is the local staple for italian if you're on a budget and in a hurry. If they deliver to you order it, it'll be less expensive than other places and full of flavor. The authenticity is a little lacking, but what in SF isn't lacking some authenticity? The true gem isn't the main dishes though, it's the side salad which is inventive with it's ingredients, but delicious and almost a meal in and of itself (coming from a big meat eater). Review #20065

This is my favorite pizza place downtown. Conveniently located at Bush and Powell. A little up the hill and not too many tourists here. Review #16102

I had the Calzone and it was mighty tasty! Stuffed with lots of ingridients. Pretty reasonably priced too. Review #14538

Uncle Vito's is my stand-by. Right by my apartment. Nice staff, good simple food. pizzas and sandwiches are good. Pasta not so much. plus on mondays you can sit in the window next to the Brown twins and watch the cable cars go down the hill. they also deliver (The restaurant, not the twins.) Review #11648

Tended toward expensive and attempting to be the "True SF pizzaria"...is there one?! A small space, don't bring a group. Usually filled with tourists, which isn't a terrible thing. The fiery hot pizza is pretty good (don't remember the name) and their pesto sauce is garlicky. Review #8828

I would rate this place as my second favorite pizza in SF (Orgasmica NUMERO UNO!). Very SF atmosphere and far enough up the hill to not be ALL tourists. Service is good, with the exception of the one guy that appears to be the owner. He's not into being nice, so bypass him and get to your delicious meal. Try the tomato-sauceless pizza -- YUM! If you're in the neighborhood and debating where to eat on the corner of Bush and Powell, don't think twice. Review #5245

I cannot rave enough uncle vitos! I lived a few blocks from there and moved away. I still long for their hot sandwiches, pizza, and pasta delivered right to my front door. everything is so good. It's definitely one of the best pizza places in the city, but I also love love love the eggplant parmaseana hot sandwich. When you order from there as much as I did, you end up trying everything. I also recommend the pasta special. Whatever it is. And the burgers and fries are top notch too. Worth going out of your way for! Review #4612

Ranks as one of the best pizza in San Francisco! If you are willing to brave the Union Square crowd, enjoy this budget-friendly casual dining spot. Also, the famed San Francisco twins frequent this joint on a weekly basis. Personally, I am with the terminally agoraphobic and LOVE the free delivery. Try the fried ravioli but it's really all about the pizza! Review #2596
